There is a dimension of prayer many believers ignore โ the prayer of inquiry.
Not every situation requires noise. Some situations require direction.
David mastered this secret. Before he moved, he would ask God.
In 1 Samuel 30:8, the Bible says:
"And David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And He answered him, Pursue: for you shall surely overtake them, and without fail recover all."
David didnโt assume. He asked.
There are battles you are fighting that are not meant to be fought blindly. There are decisions you are making that heaven has already provided answers for โ but you have not inquired.
Jeremiah 33:3 says:
"Call unto me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know."
God is not silent. But He responds to those who ask.
The prayer of inquiry is not a prayer of panic โ it is a prayer of alignment.
You donโt just say:
โGod bless what I am doing.โ
You say:
โLord, what are You doing, and how do I align with it?โ
In Judges 20:18, the children of Israel went to God and asked:
"Who shall go up first?"
They didnโt rush. They inquired.
Even Jesus showed us this pattern. In Luke 6:12, before choosing the disciples, He spent the night in prayer. Decisions that shape destiny must be preceded by inquiry.
How then do you pray the prayer of inquiry?
You come with a quiet heart, not a crowded mind.
You ask specific questions:
โLord, should I go or stay?โ
โIs this relationship Your will?โ
โIs this opportunity from You?โ
โWhat is the next step?โ
James 1:5 says:
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God... and it shall be given him."
But inquiry requires patience. You donโt rush Godโs voice.
Sometimes He answers through His Word.
Sometimes through peace in your spirit.
Sometimes through godly counsel.
Sometimes through divine timing and open doors.
But He will answer.
Isaiah 30:21 says:
"And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk in it."
That is the power of inquiry โ you donโt walk guessing, you walk knowing.
Stop moving without asking.
Stop deciding without hearing.
Prayer is not only for requests โ it is for direction.
Tonight, go before God and inquire.
And when He speaksโฆ obey.
Because one instruction from God can save you years of struggle.
