Hi! I am Stephanie Sanchez (formerly Spratt)π Mom, wife, teacher + this year, part of the St. Juan Diego community. In September, I will return to teaching G 1 +2 with my amazing educator team. I sent a welcome email to my new families this morning! I canβt wait to meet you!
I miss all the little smiles at school but Iβve been soaking up this special time& making sweet memories on mat leave with my son! So happy to see his love for books at almost 4 months, even insisting to hold them himself π *TY to those who have gifted so many of his favourites*
On Oct. 6 last year one of my G2 students brought me in a bolivian rainbow pepper plant! I promised I would take care of it in our class and plant it in my garden this summer. I wanted to send an update on how itβs doing. Thank you H and family! I really hope this finds you!πΆοΈπ€

So thankful to be home + healthy with our beautiful boy. Bright days ahead.
The name jar has arrived! Thank you G1/2 for coming up with such beautiful names for our son! Before leaving I told students Mr. Zach + I were having a hard time coming up with a name & they all offered to help! Thank you to Ms. Jackson for stopping by my π‘ to drop them off π«ΆπΌ

We have been working on reading and responding in both grade 1 + 2. Reading a text, comprehending and answering questions about the text is important. G1 + G2 both read a different book on epic and responded to the qβs in there reading response books using full sentences.
Nice weather, come back soon! βοΈ reminiscing on our outdoor gym class Friday. We had so much fun playing a class game of soccer after spending a number of classes practicing our passing, dribbling and shooting skills.
Our financial literacy unit has come to an end. We will continue to sprinkle money talks into our learning until the end of the school year and encourage all students to keep practicing at home too π. Please check front pocket of the agenda to see how your child is doing!
Taking body breaks in our learning is so important to move our bodies and refocus our minds! Today we did a Super Yoga where we transition through a number of poses quickly! π«ΆπΌ
This week we are growing our knowledge around Earth Week and how we can be good stewards of the environment. π Our focus today was on our oceans and waterways. Students explored National geographicβ perspective on the issue and also watched the short film βA Whaleβs taleβ.
We are almost through our financial literacy unit! π° Students have been working so hard to build their knowledge. We will continue to sprinkle money talks and money problems throughout our final months of school as many students can benefit from further practice!
