@JustinLawGuy@laurabellle This isn't only about potential deaths. It's about vulnerable toddlers getting hit by long-term effects that may end up affecting them for life. It's about the extra stress it inflicts on a parent on a daily basis.
You're not helping the way you think you are.
@Imani_Barbarin I know this can apply to more than yt vegans, but I really wish they actually researched wtf they parrot because it's exhausting to correct them on their crap yet not being listened to or just ignored.
@moozoogabba @TomaszTweets No it doesn't and I just said why. The only portion where dairy uses more freshwater is when producing the milk itself. Almonds use water both at the growing and the producing phases, which equals to almost 20x more water usage than dairy in the end.
@moozoogabba @TomaszTweets Agreed on the plant-based part though. Personally, I've been trying to see how well oat milk can replace dairy in different situations.
@moozoogabba @TomaszTweets That's from a study that calculated only the water consumption at 48oz of each milk produced. Almonds are still more water intensive in the overall process.
@TomaszTweets Btw the waterway impoverishment in the US comes from loose, poorly enforceable regulations that the government has not been able to fix for decades. Ex.: the pork industry more or less regulates themselves. The issue here isn't because of the animals but those who raise them.
@TomaszTweets Of course methane will perform worse on greenhouse gases than trees, but once again that doesn't take into consideration the pesticide overuse, the impoverishment of the soil or how that manure is generally used for fertilization of the fields their food is grown in.
@lisa_ledford@Imani_Barbarin Almonds and cocoa are statistically much worse on their environmental footprint than the cattle industry. Yet all they tell me about is how soy is only being destructive because of cattle.
