Brexit donor and failed Reform UK mayoral candidate Arron Banks questioned the Welshness of a community organiser because he was Black.

“Welsh lad?” he posted on X in response to Elbashir Idris’s video urging people to vote for Plaid Cymru over Reform in the Senedd elections on 7 May.

“This isn’t my first rodeo with racism,” the political analyst and caseworker told Aaron Bastani on Novara Live.

Banks later tried to write off the comment as a “joke,” but Elbashir said the joke was on Reform, because the party would never understand “the power of unity”.
