Many thanks to Mr. Grieve and Mr. Venegas for presenting about @usekamiapp during last week's Tech Talk. Their examples made me think about how Kami could be used for close reading, collaborative assignments, and creative projects. Such a cool tech tool!
On a remote school day, Mrs. Anderson asked Ss in Study Skills to share a daily goal and then grouped them accordingly in breakout rooms. Learned so much about differentiation while virtually jumping with her from group to group and watching her coach Ss through specific tasks.
Love our new Five for Five series, where staff members have five minutes to share any idea related to education. So cool to hear how Ms. Schoenhardt uses @activelylearn to engage students in close reading while differentiating based on their proficiency.
Still thinking about @Catlin_Tucker's keynote at #RemoteLearningConIL. This question resonated: If Ss lose points on a homework assignment or practice/review, then where is it safe for them to fail?

Reminder to RB staff: Today's Tech Talk will be a roundtable focused on tech setups and simultaneously teaching in person and remote learners. Meeting link was sent via email.
Co-teachers @WendyCassens and Kristin Bamford use the document camera to model close reading and facilitate discussions about annotations. The visual from the doc cam is helpful, as it engages Ss whether the class is remote (as pictured) or in a hybrid model.
Congrats to Spanish teacher Mrs. Mauritzen for using #GoogleSlides to create her first digital escape room. Such a cool way to engage students! #rb208pride
Ss in Ms. Mynaugh's AP Stats class solved problems and then chose the correct answer on #Kahoot. Made me consider how all subjects could use this active engagement vs. recall during Kahoot reviews. For example, in ELA, could Ss revise writing instead of choosing a vocab term?
Loving this new tech setup that places remote students "in" the classroom. I can match teacher movement to content or instructional strategy. Depending on if I am sharing my screen, Ss use Sidebar or Spotlight view in #googlemeet
In person and remote students in Mr. Ori's Science class simultaneously learned about friction. After listening to a song and reading an article together using the document camera, students completed an activity to identify balanced objects.
Social Studies teacher and Instructional Coach Ms. Cunningham used #Jamboard during her World History class to help students understand how beliefs and religions are similar and different and also to start a respectful discussion about religion in a history class.
#futureofschool Blended experiences that have prepared us: Learning how to implement a curriculum using a Learning Management System and understanding how best to communicate with students in an online environment. Plus, blended learning promotes flexibility and choice.
