When teachers make more money working their side hustles than they do teaching, it means that society sees teaching as a hobby and not a career, or that because teaching is 78% female and we don’t value the work of women, or… both.

Participated in another focus group for MTTC where we take the test and discuss whether the questions are appropriate for future teachers, and I LOVED it. Not sure how to explain it but assessing knowledge is an art and we all have different perspectives on it, which is so cool.

Our 600+ seniors graduate today, which means thousands of people will be where exactly one week ago, two people were shot. On campus. School was canceled Friday because our school was a crime scene. We’ve amplified security, but should I text my people I love them, just in case?

My students said we don't teach any life skills...

So, for their end-of-the-year group project, I will put them in a 26-person group chat, and have them come to a unanimous decision on what day/time we should have our class party, and what we should eat.

Today I had the pleasure of contributing to the Michigan Teacher Certification Test Bias Committee. We went through the assessment questions and deemed them valid. The environment was respectful, insightful, collaborative, and productive — a recipe for brilliance! #alwaysastudent
