5th graders created an artwork in response to the question “if you could change the world with a message, what would you say?”They learned about artivism (using their art & actions to create change) & about different children creating positive change in the world @WWESPrincipal1
2nd grade artists designed a mask to represent their culture. We learned about how masks can be used in different ways, different masks created around the world & symmetrical balance. They also made connections to their learning about different cultures & civilizations in reading
At Wheaton Woods S.T.R.E.A.M/Curriculum Night, families engaged in art activities at the art station that connected to mindfulness and literacy. They created affirmation paintings and mindful breathing sticks! Loved seeing families enjoying art & wellness together @WWESPrincipal1
In honor of MLK’s Week of Service, 5th grade artists at Wheaton Woods learned about Dr. King & then created cards to express their appreciation for some of our community partners who regularly volunteer and donate to our school! We are grateful for partnerships! @WWESPrincipal1
Wheaton Woods artists were inspired by the story “The Dot” to transform a dot into something new. We analyzed the art of different artist who incorporate dots into their art & represent their culture. Then many students chose to represent their cultural background in their art
Kinder artists at Wheaton Woods read the story The Color Monster & our school’s focus on Zones of Regulation to create a monster collage that represents a feeling and Zone of Regulation. We also talked about strategies to manage big emotions & help get into the “green zone”!
