@k8roulette2 Oh nooo! I thought having jury duty (I had to defer in July because travel & we can only defer once here) on our first day with students was bad! May your symptoms be mild & your healing quick.
@dustinwmills@tetheredtoed1 Our local has, in the last two years, bargained for class size language that sets a procedure for when classes are over, a significant change in leave policy, and better tuition reimbursement along with salary. Issues brought to us. by members. 1/2
@staralixstar42@Adele_Liles Note that blame wasn't placed in the OP. FWIW, I don't remember who taught me to read an analog clock, but I taught my own (now adult) kids this skill.
@MrLNeal @HeyMissSmith βThey're not forced to work there." true enough, but doesn't someone have to? Why should anyone be subjected to a negative working environment? Which benefits students more, consistency in bin placement or consistency in staff?
@scalzi , I believe it will gratify you to hear that I was cheering aloud in my car & bouncing up & down in my seat as I listened to the denouement of βStarter Villain.β I am deeply sad this oneβs over, as I usually am with your books.
@Mutant187 @owenpeery @heymrsbond The teacher is necessary for far more than organizing content. I post everything we use in class on Google Classroom & have systems for students to make up missed work. They still express shock that they are responsible for that work.
@tetheredtoed1@MoniseLSeward That is the next question. If the paper itself is recent, we can presume, there isn't more recent research. A better question is why there hasn't. Kids have changed; their environment has changed. Reading is important enough that we should be constantly evaluating best practices.
@MrZachG@George76766831@MathsImpact That sounds a lot like the deflection women near all the time about the minuscule percentage of false accusations of sexual misconduct. It's a pretense to imply teachers have more power in this dynamic.
@MrZachG@George76766831@MathsImpact You to know a grievance can only be filed if the principal is not following the teachers' contract, right? And that the first step of a grievance is a meeting? "Hey... This goes against our contract, what can we do to fix it?"
