So much fun listening and drawing along with Ben Clanton this afternoon during Booktopia! Thanks @WestVanLibrary and @WestVanSchools for fostering a love of story in our young readers. Div 11 even got a special shout out (we were VERY excited)
Such a great experience! A special thanks to Bill for allowing the student’s curiosity and wonders lead our journey through space today. In the words of a grade two student “today was the best day ever!!” ✨
Venture into space with some Grade 2’s from @CaulfeildSchool 🪐🌖
Bill Burnyeat from Canadian Planetariums set up a pop-up Planetarium in the library for these lucky students!

@westcot_school@WestVanSchools Congrats! I’m forever grateful to have done my practicum in such a wonderful working environment and clearly learned from the best! @ms_mkent 💕 I still use so much of what you have taught me in my classroom today
Loved watching the student’s different talents and strengths come through in this project. We are so lucky to have access to all of this equipment which really helped the students embrace the role of an actor!
Something ‘fishy’ is going on here!Future iDEC News members in the making? Grade 2 students with @Ms_Lefeaux recording with the green screen today to share their knowledge of the salmon lifecycle. Looking forward to the final edits! #westvaned#bethebear
@mrs_hulme@CaulfeildSchool@gleneagles_news Such a fun game with great energy and enthusiasm, it’s safe to say the students are thrilled to be playing team sports again!
Today @CaulfeildSchool we learned that torrential downpour can actually enhance outdoor learning. As we began our water cycle inquiry, students asked and answered questions like “where is the water coming from?” “where is it going to?” And “does this creek always look the same?”
Today we unpacked the essential question for our new inquiry unit on the regions of Canada. My favourite highlight was a student defining ‘land’ as “a place in the world that people depend on” @CaulfeildSchool
My favourite conversation today between two students: “You’re feeling curious today? I’m feeling confident!”. The grade twos have spent a few minutes each day reflecting on which bear trait they feel most connected to as part of our whole school inquiry @CaulfeildSchool
I loved seeing and listening to the connections the grade 2s @CaulfeildSchool made between those we consider heroes and our Bear traits! This provocation made them so eager to dive deeper into the stories of those represented in the images for our whole school inquiry
The grade 2s loved helping out with the water rocket yesterday, it even launched my thinking about potential inquiry projects next year (just had to add my own pun in)
We are blasting off to March Break @CaulfeildSchool All puns aside, the knowledge from Ms. Prins’ and @Ms_Lefeaux grade 2 scientists around Newton’s laws of motion ‘blew me away’ this week . . . OK one more pun #bethebear#westvaned
@BrentRichter I spent my whole childhood in this cabin as my grandparents were the park caretakers and lived here. I’m looking forward hearing what is happening there now, it’s such a special place to our family!
As the grade 2s wrap up their Mars Rover projects, the Rover “Perseverance” is set to land on Mars today. Not only is the timing perfect, but the name of the rover itself is one of @CaulfeildSchool REP skills. The stars have aligned for Div 11!
Today students began to design their Mars Rovers for our inquiry showcase on forces and motion. After being prompted to pick an inspiring name for their rover, it was a pleasant surprise to see some rovers named after the @CaulfeildSchool bear traits #bethebear
As we explore how forces and motion are connected to outer space, students has some fun discovering how craters are made on the surface of the moon @CaulfeildSchool#westvaned
@jeffmuthanna@CaulfeildSchool@WestVanSchools “I’m going to wear this for the rest of my life” it’s safe to say the grade twos loved their bracelets and connecting with their big buddies!
I had to take a moment to celebrate this student’s writing today. Not only did they use creativity and humour, but they also tied in concepts related to our whole school inquiry on empathy @CaulfeildSchool as our class has chosen to donate to Backpack Buddies.
The grade 2 kindness detectives have been noticing kindness everywhere! @ms_sarabell your kindness during handball at recess has not gone unnoticed @CaulfeildSchool#bethebear
As we focused on the reading strategy “tune in to interesting words” the grade twos were inspired by Peter Reynolds to become word collectors. As a class we were able to discover interesting words that we will now try using in our writing @CaulfeildSchool
