Yesterday the Junior ASD class went to our local fair for the day! They had a lovely time. The rides and petting zoo were both a big hit!
It was my first field trip as a teacher and I can say that itโs more stressful as the teacher but definitely just as fun! Happy weekend! โ๏ธ
One activity we did in the junior autism class earlier this week is making spiders using old toilet paper rolls! Just cut some โlegsโ out of the rolls and bend them and use them as a stamp with paint! We had some eye stickers or you can draw eyes! The kids loved this activity!๐ท
First week as a designated occasional teacher โ So thankful to be able to continue to build connections with staff and students at my old placement school this year! Happy weekend! ๐คฉ #newteacher
Yesterday was my convocation for my Bachelor of Education at @NipissingU! I am very fortunate to have many friends and family who supported me along the way, I wouldnโt be here if it wasnโt for them! Iโm so excited for whatโs in store now that Iโm a certified teacher! ๐๐
Yesterday we mixed different substances to see which substance is a good indicator if a product is acidic or not. We based this on if there was a reaction or not when mixing the substance with water & vinegar (acidic). Students definitely had a blast this block! #grade5#science
Yesterday we mixed various liquids to see if any would have a chemical reaction. The students were successful and we were able to make goo from their findings! #science#grade5#scienceexperiment
Today we read Brother Giovanniโs Little Reward which talks about the legend of pretzels being created as a religious symbol & then we made pretzels for Lent! Such a fun experience, the kids loved it & my associate teacher (the star of the show) made it extremely fun! ๐ค #lent
When making sun catchers, less food colouring will make the colours pop, yet adding lots of colour will still make them beautiful & the students had fun making it, which is what matters!
Materials: plate, glue, food colouring & popsicle sticks #sensoryart#specEd
Worked on a fun arts activity today with students with special needs. Iโve been loving my alternative placement and wish I could spend more time with the students and staff. Only 3 more days left ๐ #artsandcrafts#sensoryart#teachercandidate#artideas
Today we remember the brave men and women who fought for our countryโs freedom ๐จ๐ฆ
This week we made poppies by painting newspaper for the petals and sprinkling poppy seeds for the black centre.

This morning we made bracelets that we can use/remind us about our 5 finger breathing technique if weโre feeling anxious, sad, or need a little pick me up. We can rub one bead while breathing in & out & repeat that 5 times to help calm ourselves. #mentalhealth#grade1
We played bingo in math today! Students labeled their bingo cards & scattered their numbers 1 to 20. My students couldnโt get enough of this game, I said they could take a break but they instead wanted to keep playing. I have a feeling we will play this again soon ๐ #math
This morning in Language we read Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. We then drew a picture of our dream broom & wrote a sentence on what it looks like, whatโs itโs superpower or what it has on it. ๐๐ป #grade1#language#halloweenlessons#writing
Today in math we played in partners and rolled our dice until we got to 20! We used lego or clay as our markers. Students were full of excitement playing this simple but fun number sense game! ๐ฒ #math#numbersense#counting#grade1
Today in language, we did such an easy but fun activity! Every student received a Halloween themed sticker and then drew a background for their sticker. Then they wrote a sentence about their picture! Just another fun way to get them writing! ๐ #writing#grade1
Yesterday in Language we played around with our familiar letters and made words! We tapped out the sounds and blended them to see if it made sense or not. We then wrote down those words in our journal! ๐
