How about funding schools , addressing school violence , mental health. Kids can’t function in unsafe environments.

@MattRhoads1990 We have lock boxes and surprisingly there was minimal push back . It has made a big difference in the engagement of students , not only in the classroom but with their involvement in extra curricular and leadership opportunities.

@MrBoothY6 I agree they are not reading .The only reason I still have independent reading in my day is to be able to get attendance done in the middle of the day. I try to make it last 10 minutes , it never does.
I feel they will never experience getting lost in a good book.

@Sflecce Have you even looked at any of the curriculum documents ? This has been part of the health curriculum for years . Stop mandating stuff that is already in the curriculum to make it look like you are doing something. You continue to show everyday that you unqualified for your job .

@jennyleeshee The crisis is real it is heartbreaking to see the students in crisis and being told they are on a wait list . Mental Health support is needed immediately not months or years down the road . Without strong mental health supports no one is learning .

They are not able to diagnose or provide the care that some of our youth need. Mental health supports in the community are needed so these kids and families can get the help they need , they are faced with long wait lists which further causes these families stress.

Although I am very grateful to work along these professionals that provide much needed support facilitating learning opportunities for students to learn strategies.

@shelleylaskin @tdsb This is an issue at our board too. I carry poop bags at recess and on more then one occasion a student has fallen in it . Kids should be free to explore and play at recess . Dog owners of which I’m one need to do better . Clean up 😡

How about meeting with some Mom’s with students that require supports .
