How long are we going to keep blaming these people for not giving us what most of them never had?
Yeah, your feelings are valid but have we ever considered the fact that it's just their first time living too? They didn't even have the internet to give them a quarter of the exposure and knowledge we have right now. They only followed the path they were shown.
Well, the baton has been passed onto us now too, let's see how better we can be.
The information was in school books for reading, so what is the "Una no dey ever read" ?
The moment y'all come across something new, you pass the knowledge in the most degrading manner to feed your weak ego.
This might be very controversial as I see a lot of people enjoy it, but you know those Ai generated videos of babies dancing? Those ones on TikTok where the original dancer is an adult and the video is an Ai baby regenerated to replicate the dance? It puts me off.
I canāt quite place my finger on it but something about those videos donāt sit well with me. Almost eerie. The facial expressions, so adult yet itās a ābabyā? Emotionally mature micro-expressions mapped onto a face thatās supposed to be pre-verbal? And itās justā¦
Babies are not meant to move like that. When an adultās motor control is superimposed on a baby, thereās a visual dissonance. I donāt find it cute.
It gives me uncanny vibes.
This is me completely bitching, so donāt take me serious. Itās just one of those things I donāt have to complain about but I am because I donāt have real life problems.
Edit: If Iām to go deep now, Iām a big sucker for micro-expressions. As an actor (and just generally as a person), I donāt just use them - I spot them. Now, when adults dance, there are specific micro-expressions that come with the movement (the eyes can say ācome hitherā without any words said). Eye tension, mouth tension, brow shifts⦠a twerk here, a squint there, a smirk there. These things convey intensity without words. Some dancers use them intentionally, others probably just pick it just becauseā¦
But when a baby is superimposed onto those expressions, signaling adult agency⦠I donāt know what Iām supposed to feel. Why is a ābabyā biting its lower lip with a furrowed brow?? Thatās a suggestive expression found only in adults trying to naughty.
5 years back, I saw something that still hasnāt left me.
A pregnant woman came in.
Healthy. Smiling.
No complications throughout her pregnancy.
No āhigh-riskā label.
No warning signs.
The kind of case where the whole family walks in expecting just one thing:
a babyās cry.
Her labour progressed well.
Everything looked routine.
And thenā¦
something happened so fast
that it didnāt even feel real.
She suddenly said:
āI canāt breathe.ā
Not mild discomfort.
Not anxiety.
Real breathlessness.
The kind that makes everyone in the room freeze for half a second
before panic takes over.
Her breathing became rapid.
Her face changed.
Her body started trembling.
And within moments
she collapsed.
The room flipped instantly.
From:
āAlmost done.ā
To:
āCALL FOR HELP.ā
From:
āEverything is fine.ā
To:
āSTART CPR.ā
Machines started beeping.
Oxygen was rushed.
Lines were placed.
Drugs were pushed.
Seconds felt like minutes.
And then the unthinkable happened.
Despite everythingā¦
she couldnāt be saved.
And then came the part that shattered everyone.
The family saw a perfectly healthy pregnant woman walk inā¦
and a dead body come out.
They didnāt ask politely.
They didnāt process slowly.
They exploded.
āHow can a healthy woman die like this?!ā
āThere were NO complications in the entire pregnancy!ā
āYou doctors have killed her!ā
Some were crying.
Some were shouting.
Some were blaming anyone they could see.
And honestlyā¦
I couldnāt even blame them.
Because to a normal person, this doesnāt make sense.
A normal pregnancy.
A normal delivery.
And then sudden death?
It feels impossible.
It feels like someone must have ādone something wrong.ā
But the truth isā¦
sometimes medicine witnesses something terrifying:
A body can collapse like a switch has been turned off.
I was just a new intern then, I asked my seniors and that day, I learnt the name of that nightmare.
"Amniotic Fluid Embolism"
And thatās when it hit me:
We take pregnancy for granted because we only see the āhappy ending.ā
But behind the scenes, a womanās body is walking a tightrope every single dayā¦
and sometimes, everything can change within seconds... without any warning.
A Gen Z joined the team.
Week one.
During onboarding, the manager said,
āWe sometimes stay late during peak periods.ā
Gen Z nodded.
Then asked,
āIs that paid⦠or just expected?ā
The room went quiet.
- No attitude.
- No rebellion.
- Just a question.
Later that day, HR mentioned āgrowth opportunities.ā
Gen Z replied,
āDoes growth include raises, or just more responsibility?ā
Again, silence.
- No laziness.
- No entitlement.
- Just clarity.
Thatās when the team realized something.
When people say
āGen Z is lazy,ā
what they really mean is:
Gen Z watched old generation
- skip meals,
- miss birthdays,
- work weekends,
- and burn out
only to be told
ābudgets are tightā
and ābe grateful you have a job.ā
So Gen Z chose differently.
- They donāt romanticize overwork.
- They donāt confuse suffering with ambition.
- They donāt trade health for praise.
They still work hard.
They just refuse to work for nothing.
Itās not laziness.
Itās pattern recognition.
And honestly,
after everything old generation went throughā¦
Can you really blame them?

My dad doesnāt know itās Christmas this yearš„ŗ
I didnāt expect Christmas to hit this hard.
This is the first Christmas weāre having without my dad as the man weāve always known.
10 months ago, he was diagnosed with stroke and dementia. Since then,
Dear God,
I need a better paying job asap.
Monday to Friday, 9 to 5.
3 days onsite and 2 days remote.
A job that closes for the year.
With a staff bus, 30 days paid annual leave, kind bosses and colleagues.
A job that pays a 13th month salary and shares rice and oil.
Amen. š
