What a fun way to end the school year. "The Ms. Woodruff Cooking Show - Sundae Addition". I was one lucky teacher to be able to spend my year learning alongside an amazing group of Grade 2 students. The future looks bright with them in it! @GEVSchool
Thank you @cobrasLS for inspiring us to create our own "fair" and "unfair" spinner. Demonstrating our understanding of probability using @PearsonMatholo1 tools. @GEVSchool
We love using the Mathology stories and Virtual Manipulatives to extend our learning. This was a great resource to discuss balancing equations in real life contexts. We were able to share our thinking and connect to everything we have been learning in class. @GEVSchool
Last week to Celebrate Eid we did a cooking class. Students were encouraged to bring a variety of ingredients to class they they could put together to make a healthy and delicious salad! @GEVSchool
Our 3 Act Math Lesson got us thinking about fractions, multiplication and arrays. Students made great observations, had excellent wonders and were incredible problem solvers. @GEVSchool
We've been discussing single use plastics in our class. Students were encouraged to find materials around their homes that they no longer used, were in the recycle or on their way to the garbage. They used these materials to create something beautiful. Eco Fashion! @GEVSchool
Today in Science we investigated water as a solid. We looked at ice, touched ice, smelled and tasted ice. We recorded different ways we can describe water as a solid. Hands on learning is the best! @GEVSchool
On Friday we learned about "Pop Art" and the amazing artist Andy Warhol. We created our own Doughnut Pop Art. I don't know about you, but these make me hungry! @GEVSchool
Just because we are virtual, doesn't mean we can't find time to get creative and make the special women in our lives a gift! Happy Almost Mother's Day! @GEVSchool
Ss have been working on balancing equations. We put our knowledge to the test with a paper pencil tasks, boom cards, and a fun Toy Theatre game. @GEVSchool
Yesterday we used Mathology and virtual manipulatives to introduce balancing equations. Students had to determine what needed to be added to or subtracted from each expression to make them equivalent.
Here's how we saw it: counting one one twelfth, two one-twelfth.... twelve one-twelfths wait a minute says Jackson.... "that's a half!" Boom!! " so 6 out of 12 is half!" @Ms__M__Woodruff@GEVSchool @lehmaniler @MathletePearce
@Ms__M__Woodruff comparing equivalent fractions. Prove that two one-fourths is the same as one half.
Challenge: Can you prove one third is the same as two sixths? @GEVSchool@onychayounan@FaroughMs
Ss researched, created and presented these AMAZING Social Studies projects. I sometimes wonder... are these students actually only in Grade 2? Some made posters, books, videos, and even PowerPoints to share the information they gathered. @GEVSchool
