Nigeria has had an impressive outing in Glasgow, leading the African charge as the only African nation currently ranked among the Top 10 at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

🥉 Commonwealth 400m Bronze for 🇳🇬 Ella Onojuvwevwo!

She clocked a time of 51.00s to win Bronze in the women's 400m at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

With that, she becomes the first Nigerian woman to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the event since Fatima Yusuf claimed Silver in 1994.

He stormed to a resounding victory in 48.47s, beating Jake Minshull 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 who ran 48.99s for Silver and Assinie Wilson 🇯🇲 in 49.22s.

Jessica Oji 🇳🇬 marked her international debut for Nigeria in style, winning a brilliant Silver medal in the women's Shot Put.

The 19-year-old produced a best throw of 17.87m to finish 2nd, becoming the first Nigerian woman to win a Commonwealth Games Shot Put medal since Vivian Chukwuemeka at Melbourne 2006.

Goodness Nwachukwu 🇳🇬 produced the performance of a lifetime to win GOLD in the women's F42-44/F61-64 discus throw at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow!

The Nigerian saved her best for last, launching the Discus out to 39.66m to smash her own F42 World Record by more than 3 metres and secure the Commonwealth title.

Onome Didih 🇳🇬 broke the Commonwealth Games Record and Commonwealth Record MULTIPLE times on her way to GOLD in the women's 53kg weightlifting event.

She opened at the Commonwealth Games Record in the Snatch before raising the bar with every successful lift, finishing with:

Snatch: 93kg (GR, CR)
Clean & Jerk: 113kg (GR, CR)
Total: 206kg (GR, CR)

Edidiong Joseph Umoafia delivered another GOLD medal for Team Nigeria, winning the men's 71kg weightlifting title at the 2026 Commonwealth Games with a Commonwealth Games record total of 319kg!

The Nigerian opened with a Games record 147kg in the snatch before lifting 172kg in the clean & jerk to seal victory.
