Sandbags at the side of the road are a reminder of the war zone that Ukraine remains. Hopefully the war ends soon, the devastation ends, and families can return and be reunited.
Reception desk Kosice, Slovaki RR Station. In the days after 2/24/22 Russian invasion of Ukraine, 20,000 people were arriving daily - and compassionately welcomed by Cáritas (Catholic Charities) and other Church groups.
Note in the background the doors of the Church are open. Faithful religious people are active in caring for people in the world well beyond the walls of the Church building. Kudos to the people of Poland welcoming refugees.
Arriving in Cracow - we came voluntarily. More than 200k Ukrainian refugees had no choice but to flee from war and seek safety here. They received a compassionate welcome.

Important, but peripheral to the main issue - the death penalty. State must provide public order and a criminal justice system. Doesn't mean that all manner of keeping public order and all punishments should be sanctioned. https://t.co/DXHQoQthjq
Well written about a sad and complex problem that our city deals with every day. No simple or quick answers for those struggling to find decent shelter. Laudable that significant resources are allocated to this. Yet, ongoing attention still needed. https://t.co/Naa2zlZGuw
