The Working Group on Children with Disabilities, in collaboration with @UNAlbinism, is in Lusaka, Zambia, validating the ACERWC Guiding Note on reporting the rights and welfare of #ChildrenqWithAlbinism.
Hon. Aboubekrine El Jera, Chair of the Working Group, delivered a keynote address highlighting the relevance of the Guiding Note, ‘This document has been developed against the backdrop to address a critical gap in the state reporting process and contribute to strengthening the monitoring mandate of the Committee. Notably, out of the 42 Member States that have submitted state reports to the Committee, only 12 make reference to albinism in their state reports, which makes it challenging for the Committee to effectively monitor the rights of children with albinism.’
The session began with @MsipaDianah presenting the background of developing the Guiding Note, its objectives, and an overview of its content. Participants present engaged in breakout groups to discuss the content of the Guiding Note critically.
