The world is full of leaders with strong opinions and weak values.
What if we strive for the opposite: strong values and weak opinions?
Integrity depends on being consistent in your principles. Progress depends on being flexible in your policies.
#ThoughtForTheDay One way we can shape culture is by the way we generate will in our schools. When students, staff and parents believe they can acoomplish anything, then most likely they will. Without hope/faith, no plan will succeed. #Culturize
#RCDGivemFive points out we are #BetterTogether when stakeholders are consistent with their goal and approach to discipline. “Yes! Responsibility can be taught!” It is our job as educators to provide a process for students to take ownership for the behavior.
#RCDGivemFive is focused on empowering students to “take ownership of one’s behavior” and is consistent with CHS’s #Mission
‘Our #wholechild approach develops the skills and mindsets to empower each student to become a sustaining force for our future.’
Starting my #SummerPD by reading Larry Thompson’s book Roadmap to Responsibility with the theme that #responsibilty can be taught and “if we want to see students do something differently, we first must learn to respond differently (p.xiv).” #RCDGivemFive
Great schools are not just lead by administrators. They are lead by teachers too. In great schools, everyone owns the vision and everyone is on a mission. 👌@SteeleThoughts@ToddWhitaker
Sometimes, kids make bad choices. Sometimes, they really screw up. We hold them accountable... but we can also extend some grace. They need to know we still like them. They need to learn a lesson... but it is never constructive when they feel alienated from us.
I don’t think it’s possible for administrators to spend too much time learning about the challenges confronting teachers.
Know the struggles. Feel the struggles. Be present.
It is the only way to provide effective and meaningful support.
