Today is the final day of Kwanzaa as we conclude with Imani (ee-MAH-nee) meaning Faith! Today we are reminded to have strong belief in our people’s abilities to succeed and continue to triumph over our struggles. May we each incorporate these Kwanzaa principles into the New Year!
Our Kwanzaa celebration continues with the sixth day, Kuumba (koo-OOM-bah) meaning Creativity! Today is to remind us to utilize our creative side and put forth that energy to building and maintaining a strong community.
Today we recognize the fifth day of Kwanzaa, Nia (NEE-ah) meaning Purpose. This is a day to encourage us to look within ourselves and set goals that are beneficial to not only our personal well being but also to our community.
On this fourth day of Kwanzaa, we recognize Ujamaa (oo-JAH-mah), meaning Cooperative Economics. Today we are reminded to build our own business, control the economics of our own community, and share in all its work and wealth.
We have made it to the third day of Kwanzaa! Today we recognize Ujima (oo-JEE-mah) meaning Collective Work and Responsibility! This day is a reminder that we have a role to play within our community and we must work together to solve issues and make an impact.
Today is the second day of Kwanzaa and we recognize Kujichagulia (koo-jee-chah-GOO-lee-ahh), meaning Self-Determination! This is a day for us to define ourselves and our interests to help us in decision making that positively effect us as individuals and the community.
Happy Kwanza! This holiday, recognized December 26th-January 1st, was created by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966 to celebrate African heritage and identity.
Today we begin with Umoja (oo-MO-jah) meaning Unity. This day emphasizes the importance of unity in the family and community.
