WATCH | Good evening, Crime Watch. I would like to report an incident of dangerous driving and assault involving a kombi driver and his conductor. The kombi had “Galacticos” written at the back and was carrying registration number ADS 6930. The incident happened at the intersection of Harare Street and Abercorn Street.

The kombi was coming from Harare Street and was about to turn right into Abercorn Street, while I was travelling from Abercorn Street towards Harare Street. In the middle of my manoeuvre, the kombi suddenly entered the intersection aggressively and cut me off, forcing me to brake hard to avoid a collision.

When the driver realised he could not complete the turn, he started ordering me to reverse. I refused, after which the driver and his conductor began swearing at and insulting me. They then poured a liquid over me, which I initially thought was water. However, shortly afterwards, my skin became extremely itchy and I developed a rash, making me suspect that the liquid may have contained something harmful.

I initially did not intend to report the matter to the police, as I considered it just another incident on the road. However, after experiencing the skin reaction, I decided to report the matter. The case was successfully reported and entered in the police occurrence book, and investigations are now underway.

I am sitting in the corridors of Parirenyatwa Hospital, consoling Tete va Patrick. We have just lost another child to Fanconi Anaemia.

Patrick is gone.

We buried Wayne just a few weeks ago a gallant fighter who fought bravely until the end. Beside me are Mai Tawanda and Mai Vanessa. Like me, they are mothers of children living with Fanconi Anaemia. We know this pain. We know the fear. We know what it means to sit beside your child, watching their blood counts fall and wondering whether they will make it through the night.

And then Mai Tawanda asked the question that shattered me:

“WHO IS NEXT?”

Who is next?

I don't know.

And that is what frightens me the most.

Six children with Fanconi Anaemia currently need lifesaving bone marrow transplants that cost $50 000 for each child. Six children whose only real chance at a future is a transplant that is simply beyond the financial reach of their families. But right now, we are fighting an even more immediate battle: Keeping them alive long enough to get there. These children need blood. They need platelets. The National Blood Services of Zimbabwe has blood, and we are grateful for that. But in the past week, our children have had to purchase blood, and the cost has become unbearable. One pint of blood is costing US$240 and a pint of platelets is $240. For these families, that is not just expensive. It is impossible. And when these children cannot access the blood they need, they bleed. From their mouths. In their urine. In their stools. They vomit blood.

Imagine watching your child bleed and knowing that what could keep them alive is simply beyond your means. Vanessa is fighting for her life right now. She needs two pints of blood and one pack of platelets.

And sadly The Nate Foundation has reached a point where we have no resources left. Usually Eddie and I support these families with our personal resources but right now we have nothing.

I am not writing this as someone standing outside this crisis.

I am in it.

I am a mother in this fight too. I sit with Mai Tawanda. I sit with Mai Vanessa. We comfort each other because we understand a pain that is almost impossible to explain to someone who has never lived it.

And yet, we keep losing children.

Wayne.

Patrick.

And we are terrified of hearing another name. I feel helpless. I feel broken. But I cannot sit quietly. Because these children deserve a chance to live. They deserve to grow up. They deserve to go to school, to laugh, to dream, to become who they were meant to be. They deserve more than a hospital bed and a funeral. So I am asking you, please help us.

We urgently need assistance with blood, platelets and medical costs.

And ultimately, six children need lifesaving bone marrow transplants.

We cannot do this alone.

💰REWARD: US$500💰 | I was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Monday and I am trying to locate the Toyota Hiace with registration number AGD 3980 that crashed into my car.

The accident happened at around 12pm along Glenara Avenue near Hillside Drive. I was driving from the airport along Glenara Avenue when, without warning, the Toyota Hiace made a U-turn directly in front of me and swerved into my car. The passenger-side door of the Hiace was badly damaged in the collision.

I tried to stop the driver, but they drove away. Fortunately, a good Samaritan who was driving behind me followed the kombi as it turned onto Robert Mugabe Road and managed to take a photo of the registration number.

I am offering a US$500 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to the identification of the driver and/or owner of the vehicle and the recovery of the car.

PLEASE SHARE🙏 | Princess Robbie Zinge (28), a midwife at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) and a mother of one, is fighting for her life after lupus caused her kidneys to fail.

She was diagnosed with lupus in 2022 while pregnant with her first child. The illness left her bedridden during pregnancy, but she managed to give birth to a healthy baby boy. Earlier this year, doctors confirmed that she had developed end-stage kidney failure.

Princess is now undergoing dialysis twice every week to stay alive, at a cost of about US$190 per week. She was recently admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital after excess fluid built up in her body due to her failing kidneys.

Doctors have recommended a kidney transplant in India, which is expected to cost around US$20,000. The amount will cover medical tests, donor compatibility screening, the transplant surgery, hospital care, medication, travel and follow-up treatment. A family member has already volunteered to donate a kidney, but compatibility tests are still required before the operation can take place.

Her family says they have exhausted their savings trying to keep her alive and are now appealing to well-wishers, churches, companies and members of the public for financial assistance. They hope to raise enough money to give Princess a second chance at life and allow her to continue raising her young son.
