Today, #HoReCo launched the Training of Trainers (ToT) for Scheme Farmer Promoters (SFPs) at the Kagitumba Irrigation Scheme in @NyagatareDistr. The event was graced by district officials and representatives from #RAB. The month-long programme is equipping 45 farmers from KABOKU Cooperative with practical skills in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), irrigation scheme management, cooperative governance, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, watershed management and conservation, post-harvest handling, and conflict resolution to enhance sustainable agricultural productivity.

As part of the #KwihazaProject, implemented in partnership with @RwandAgriExport, HoReCo and SINEJO Ltd, tomato seedbeds were established today in @MusanzeDistrict for two demonstration plots: in greenhouse and on open field.
The activity brought together 15 young farmers, who will benefit from hands-on training in modern vegetable production techniques. The tomato varieties established include ANNA F1 and Ghamar F1.
This initiative aims to strengthen youth engagement in agriculture by enhancing technical skills, increasing productivity, and promoting sustainable horticultural practices.

Happened today: A rice productivity measurement was conducted at the Rwangingo Irrigation Scheme (Rice Lot 5) in Ngarama Sector, @GatsiboDistrict, bringing together the #RAB team, local authorities, Cooperative Ubumwe Gatsibo, agronomists, and farmers to assess the performance of the 2026 Season B rice crop.
Preliminary results from three sampled plots indicated an average yield of 7 t/ha. The exercise will continue in the remaining zones to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of overall crop performance.
A productive Quarter III Validation Workshop was held today at the Mulindi Horticultural Centre of Excellence, RAB Rubirizi Station, where farmers, with RAB's observations and guidance, reviewed and validated key achievements registered during the quarter while providing valuable feedback and recommendations.
The intervention is being implemented across @BugeseraDistr, @GatsiboDistrict, @KireheDistrict, @NgomaDistrict, and @NyagatareDistr, contributing to improved irrigation scheme management, increased productivity, and enhanced livelihoods for farmers in @RwandaEast. #OMISProject

Farmers were provided with technical advice on improved crop management and encouraged to adopt market-led production by cultivating crops with secured markets to enhance profitability and reduce losses.

Today, we had the honor of receiving Hon. @solangeuwituze, State Minister of @RwandaAgri, together with @PudenceR, Governor of @RwandaEast, and other dignitaries at the Kagitumba Irrigation Scheme in Matimba Sector, @NyagatareDistr.
The visit showcased ongoing irrigation and agricultural activities under KABOKU Cooperative, aimed at enhancing productivity, increasing farmers’ yields, and strengthening food security.
Well-spent day at the KWIIP Meeting Room in @KayonzaDistrict during the Validation Workshop of the Q1 2026 Report – Lot 5 Amendment, covering @KireheDistrict and @GatsiboDistrict.
Through farmers’ testimonies, participants expressed satisfaction with the support provided by @HoReCo_Rw, while the report was successfully approved under the guidance of @RwandaAgriBoard.

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance productivity and ensure sustainable management of irrigated marshlands under Lot 5, a total of 3,187.9 hectares were cultivated during Season 2026B across @NyagatareDistr, @GatsiboDistrict, @KireheDistrict, @NgomaDistrict, and @BugeseraDistr .
➡️ NYAGATARE : cultivation was carried out in Kagitumba (500 Ha), Matimba Lot 4 (200 Ha), Matimba Lot 5 (200 Ha), and Rwangingo (RRG) (605 Ha).
➡️ GATSIBO : 268 Ha were cultivated under Rwangingo (Ubumwe Gatsibo).
➡️KIREHE: production covered Nasho/GFI Mpanga (600 Ha) and ETI Mpanga (824 Ha).
➡️NGOMA : 194 Ha were cultivated under GITINGA,
➡️BUGESERA: contributed 200.5 Ha under LuxDev-supported areas.
Overall, the main crops grown include rice (394 Ha), maize seeds (112 Ha), consumption maize (108 Ha), soybeans (183.5 Ha), beans (1,276 Ha), vegetables and fruits (192.5 Ha), and Irish potatoes (80 Ha), reflecting diversified production within the irrigated schemes.
Current implementation activities are focusing on crop monitoring, follow-up of harvests from previous seasons, promotion of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) at farmer level, farmer field school trainings, maintenance of irrigation infrastructure through community works, and continuous stakeholder sensitization to ensure effective and timely implementation of Season 2026B.
