Brilliant talk by Mubarak Ismail from the @mahmoudbukar Lab at @NSNSecretariat conference! 👏🏾
He presented his work using label-free quantitative phase imaging to reveal tau-associated alterations in nuclear structure in live cells. Thanks to @YorkBioimaging for support

Thank you to the @EmbEspAbuja for hosting this important discussion. It was a privilege to contribute to a conversation on how global partnerships can strengthen #neuroscience research and training in #Nigeria. What made the event especially meaningful was seeing a collaboration that developed in #Damaturu, #Yobe State @BioRTCNig with @idibaps@SussexUni, recognised as a model of scientific cooperation. It is a reminder that world-class science is not defined by geography, but by vision, commitment, and genuine partnership. I look forward to continuing this journey with our collaborators and to expanding opportunities for research, training, and scientific diplomacy in #Nigeria and across #Africa.
How can global partnerships boost national neuroscience research 🧠? Yesterday in Abuja, the Roundtable on Neuroscience in 🇳🇬 brought together local and international experts to position neuroscience as a strategic pillar for the country’s development.

Growing Up in Science (GUS)!
@BioRTCNig Computational Neuroscience Summer School, 2026
Hearing scientists share their journeys reminds us that success in science requires more than technical skills—it demands resilience, mentorship, collaboration, and lifelong learning.
#BioRTC
After a week of intensive learning at the Computational Neuroscience Summer School, participants, faculty, and BioRTC staff took to the football field, volleyball court, and snooker table for a well-deserved break.
Another achievement attained: securing the Imaging 4 All Access Grant, through which I will be visiting the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 for my research. A big thank you and appreciation to our Director Prof. @mahmoudbukar, for providing us with the enabling environment at the @BioRTCNig
Grateful for the warm reception from the @Unimaid_officia and the Department of Microbiology. It was an honour to return and engage with students, faculty, and leadership on building sustainable scientific ecosystems.
Last week in Tunisia, I had the opportunity to contribute to a Neuroscience Summer School, engaging early-career scientists from across North Africa, alongside colleagues from European institutions. Inaddition to lectures in Alzheimer’s disease biology and model systems, I led discussions on building sustainable neuroscience ecosystems. A key theme that emerged is that progress in #African #Neuroscience won't just be about training or techniques, but about aligning people, problems, institutions, and networks over time.
This week, our Director @mahmoudbukar contributed to a #Neuroscience Summer School in Tunisia, engaging early-career scientists from North #Africa. He gave lectures on neurodegeneration & iPSC models, alongside leading discussions on building sustainable neuroscience ecosystems.
I am truly humbled to be recognised as one of The @_TheTransmitter's Rising Stars of #Neuroscience 2025.
This recognition reflects not just my work, but the collective effort of colleagues, students, mentors, and partners across Nigeria, the UK, USA and beyond who are helping advance our work in #dementia #iPSc.
I am proud to be part of a community working to broaden representation, strengthen capacity, and push the science forward.
