Madam Finance Minister, merchants don’t run charities.

If you force a merchant to pay 12 extra on a 3,000 UPI transaction, he’ll recover that 12 from somewhere.

He’ll increase the product price, reduce discounts or add it to the bill.

The cost doesn’t disappear because the Finance Ministry says “merchant will pay.”

This is basic economics.

CEC Gyanesh Gupta cited a Supreme Court judgement for not giving machine readable data but they did it to Anurag Thakur, otherwise he couldn’t have analysed 6 parliamentary constituencies so quickly.

ECI didn’t answer why Anurag Thakur was not asked to sign an affidavit.
