So I stopped hearing from her. I stopped getting help & support from her. Our friendship “fell by the wayside”. But then something interesting happened. She had a medical emergency at the holidays and ended up in hospital. Who did she call? That’s right. Me. The person /7
via @NYTimes @VermontFutures @davidautur @GovPhilScott Remember the basics - moms want good schools for their kids and need day care if driving to work is longer or out of cell range. All of us want our kids to be better trained - ready https://t.co/NUR49aUC5a
via @NYTimes @GovPhilScott @davidautur I love Vermont so I would want to see housing and communities for artists; training centers for plumbers, electricians and yoga instructors—18 month stem programs that bridge bring tech support jobs. Consider https://t.co/NUR49aUC5a
@davidautor@kearney_melissa In US culture and law, men walk away, women don’t and yes generally can’t opt out so easily. Dont get me started on step mothers and third wives
@davidautor Challenge here is that so many who espouse “family values” want to put us back into the dark ages of abusive, cheating, authoritarian husbands even the Instagram vignettes about seconds shift are confounding when they lecture men to take responsibility for their families
via @NYTOpinion “Do as I say and not as I do” is among the worst moral arguments imaginable. A holistic pro-life society requires true self-sacrifice. It asks women to value the life growing inside of them even in the face of fear and poverty. https://t.co/bij0qLxxFR
via @NYTOpinion A 2022 study found that there were an estimated 318,981 vaccine-preventable deaths from January 2021 to April 2022. Vaccine hesitancy was so concentrated in Republican America that political affiliation was relevant … https://t.co/bij0qLxxFR
via @NYTOpinion “ a movement telling women that they had to carry unwanted pregnancies to term, with all the risks and financial uncertainties, and at the same time millions were also refusing the inconveniences of masking and low risks of vaccination” https://t.co/bij0qLxxFR
via @NYTimes @GovKathyHochul Look at what it takes to support a family of 4 in NYC! If I can’t leave easily then there should be an explicit contract with a specific payout Not being able to switch jobs easily should be a clear contract or bargain https://t.co/yusfVCEXEe
@HGBashar@dropoutnation@titudeadjust@DrTedros So how do we argue for a 2 state solution? and what is needed to make folks feel safe? Anti colonialism inspires much rejection of the borders in the Middle East that fall to us now after the British mandate end but how do we reject Hamas terms that obliterate Israel and Jews
The Texas GOP now controls:
- What you can do with your body
- What books you can read
- Whether you can see a doctor
- Where you can travel
Time for Texans to take back control by voting them out. Join us in our voter registration campaign: https://t.co/0DH2PO6KFD
@WalshFreedom But you do see leadership pushing back and in NY you see a fierce debate — and I think voters will ultimately let them know failure to advocate for a 2 state solution has cost too many their lives
During a DSA rally, a participant holds up a sign calling Hamas a “resistance movement” justified under international law.
First, Hamas is not a resistance movement. It is a terrorist organization.
Second, there is no “resistance” exception to the rule against murdering and maiming civilians, butchering and burning babies, raping women, mutilating bodies, abducting hostages…
All of these atrocities, committed by Hamas, are war crimes under international law.
Beware of anyone who whitewashes the war crimes of Hamas while weaponizing international law against Israel.
@KarenAttiah Ok but every time I argued for a two state solution to crises - push back was that israel and Israelis don’t have the right to exist. So now I am looking for who is advocating for a peace that protects Jews too even in their anger about the cost of the retaliation for Oct 7.
Republicans are standing firm in their inability to resolve a crisis that they themselves created, and their insistence on blaming Democrats for it.
Fixed it.
Have Republicans offered to work with Democrats to resolve this? Or are they just waiting for a bailout?
@brad_dickson Here in US we need daycare centers, yoga studios to grow old better, bike repair shops/used bike shops, re-purpose sewing centers, meal prep shops, and a whole host of helpful support for families but not a lot of big profit there - a non profit takeover of a mall makes sense
via @NYTOpinion @NickKristof Should there be a plan to evacuate civilians by boat? Where are the negotiations for a 2 state solution? https://t.co/ruw1DNhYNW
If BLM shot a bunch of kids in a premeditated attack I would indeed stop supporting them?? but I would still support the cause of civil rights, the same as I support Palestinian freedom and wellbeing. I don't think this is very complicated all told
