@nycgraceryan Your tweet reveals your classism. The phrase you just used reinforces class divide by framing aid and charity as a responsibility. Just how it helps the conservative thought of how are we gonna have jobs if rich people are taxed.
@Tyler_A_Harper I may be misreading. But having a four year college degrees does not always lead to becoming rich. Studying sculpture is barely a career awarding education.
Anyone in charge of organizations responsible for the affordability, sustainability, and safety of New York City who is found guilty of such blatant disregard for the very laws that keep us structurally and environmentally safe should resign from their leadership position.
NYC DSA Co-Chair Gustavo Gordillo’s $1.5 million homes renovation may have broken NYC’s Local Law 181 of 2025, which passed with 40 co-sponsors and a supermajority votes.
Construction without permits reduces sustainability and durability of our city’s infrastructure. It pivots us away from our broader sustainability goals, and leads to unsafe living conditions for ourselves and for our neighbors.
Council Member @frankmorano is a class act and working with him and his office in City Council is always pleasure. Politics can be polarizing but governance doesn’t have to be. Despite disagreement, there’s always a path forward. CM Morano governs from that very standpoint.
I disagree with @NYCMayor plenty, but this criticism is unfair. My understanding is that the family didn't want elected officials speaking and the Mayor respected their wishes. He was warmly received & clearly moved by a beautiful ceremony. This isn't something to fault him for.

@createcraig@HannahFNYP@Matt_Fischetti To those of you who can’t seem to understand let me break it down. For South Asians, parent’s cousins are not the children’s first cousins once removed. We just call them aunts or uncles.
@createcraig@HannahFNYP@Matt_Fischetti These labels create distances, which is why y’all see this as a “distant” cousin thing. But for us, because we don’t practice what you practice in familial relationships, we don’t see the distance in it.
@createcraig@HannahFNYP@Matt_Fischetti Their kids are our cousins, not second cousins. And their kids are our nieces/nephews, not first cousins once removed. We don’t practice this second cousin thing or once removed thing because South Asians grow up in tightly knit families. So first cousins are more like siblings.
Kicking off today’s downballot candidate 🧵 with @ZohranKMamdani.
He's running to make NYC more affordable for everyone and has captured the nation's attention with his incredible campaign.
Go vote for Zohran this November!
PM Hasina’s violent reaction to legitimate protests made her continued rule untenable
I applaud the brave protestors & demand justice for those killed
It’s critical to establish a balanced interim government that respects the rights of all & sets up democratic elections swiftly
The gruesome situation in Bangladesh has left me & my community disgusted & disheartened. However, with the hope of justice @CMShahanaHanif and I co-led this letter along with other Bangladeshi leaders, and elected officials in calling for accountability.

As the first Bangladeshi-American elected in NYC, I call on @SenSchumer and @RepMeeks to condemn the political violence against Bangladeshi students. This letter is signed by many colleagues representing Bangladeshi constituents: @CMNantashaW, @CMSandyNurse, and @ZohranKMamdani.
