🚨One thing Manchester United have been REALLY good at for years is giving our best academy players a pathway into the first team.
Mainoo, Garnacho, Heaven, Rashford, McTominay and so many others are perfect examples.
The club clearly had plans for him too. Different reports have said he was expected to be involved in the squad tomorrow against Brighton, so I don’t think the lack of a pathway or opportunities is the reason he wants to leave.
The reason has to be something else, because only him, his dad and his family truly know why he wants to leave. From Manchester United’s side, I genuinely don’t think the club has done anything wrong here.
They started involving him in first-team training back in the Ruben Amorim era, and now under Carrick he was taken on pre-season, given minutes and was reportedly expected to be involved again tomorrow against Brighton.
For a player his age, Manchester United have given him an incredible amount of trust and opportunities already.
It would still be incredibly disappointing if he ends up leaving. But at the same time, if he doesn’t want to play for Manchester United and feels that leaving is best for him, then the sooner this situation gets resolved, the better.
And let’s not forget — there are PLENTY of academy players who dream of playing for this club. Manchester United will never lack talent coming through the academy. We will always have kids who want to wear that shirt and give everything for this badge.
