CCB PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL ROUNDTABLE WITH ATTORNEYS-GENERAL TO STRENGTHEN ANTI-CORRUPTION COLLABORATION

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) was invited by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to participate in a one-day National Roundtable with Attorneys-General, held in Abuja on 13 August 2026. The roundtable was aimed at strengthening collaboration among justice and anti-corruption agencies and fostering a coordinated national response to corruption in Nigeria.

Speaking at the engagement, CCB Chairman, @abdubel , FCCA, CFE, highlighted the Bureau’s constitutional mandate to promote ethical conduct, integrity and accountability among public officers.

He stressed that the fight against corruption must go beyond investigation and prosecution, emphasising prevention, compliance and early intervention as essential tools for addressing unethical conduct.

CCB Partners with EFCC Academy to Train New Staff

In a historic milestone aimed at bolstering institutional capacity and fostering inter-agency cooperation, the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) commenced an intensive four-week Basic Investigation and Enforcement Course for its newly recruited staff on Monday, 10 August 2026, at the EFCC Academy in Abuja.

This landmark event marks the first time the CCB is conducting staff induction and training outside its dedicated training department, leveraging the robust facilities and expertise of the @officialEFCC Training Academy. The opening ceremony drew top leadership from both institutions, led by the CCB Chairman, @abdubel FCCA, CFE, alongside members of the Board, Directors and senior management staff.

Their presence shows the importance the Bureau’s leadership places on the professional grounding of its incoming workforce.
In his keynote address, CCB Chairman, Dr. Bello, expressed profound appreciation to his Board members for their solidarity and presence, while thanking the Commandant and management of the EFCC Academy for their warm reception. He emphasised that the partnership between the two agencies is essential for promoting transparency and ethical conduct across the public sector.

Addressing the newly recruited officers, Dr. Bello, reminded them that the Bureau serves as a crucial constitutional cornerstone for ethical standards in Nigeria. “Our duty is to promote transparency, prevent conflict of interest, and help build a public service that Nigerians can trust,”.

Describing the training as the foundation of their professional careers, he urged the recruits to treat the programme with the utmost seriousness, noting that the knowledge and values acquired will shape how they discharge their duties and reflect on the integrity of the entire Bureau.

Delivering his opening remarks, the Commandant of the EFCC Academy, Joseph Ogwiji, PhD, emphasised that the curriculum is designed to go beyond technical skills, stating, “This training is not just to pass skills and technical knowledge, but to build confidence, discipline, and ethical and professional standards in public officers.” He noted that the programme places heavy emphasis on discipline, integrity, dedication to duty, respect for public service rules, strict obedience to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and a strong commitment to the mandate of the CCB.

CCB and the Nigeria Customs Strengthen Partnership on Integrity and Ethical Governance

The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, @abdubel , FCCA, CFE, paid a working visit to the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters, Abuja, where he met with the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), to strengthen institutional collaboration on integrity, ethics and compliance with the Code of Conduct for Public Officers. During the visit, the Chairman announced that the Bureau had completed the development of its Online Assets and Liabilities Declaration System (OALDS), which will enable public officers to declare their assets electronically without visiting any Bureau office. He also highlighted the introduction of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers (CCPO) online learning platform and the deployment of Artificial Intelligence to enhance asset verification and promote compliance.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service's commitment to integrity, professionalism and accountability, noting that ethical conduct remains central to the Service's operations in line with World Customs Organisation standards. He also pledged closer collaboration with the Code of Conduct Bureau to strengthen transparency, ethical standards and compliance across the Service.

CCB Showcases Digital Reforms and AI-Driven Innovations at NACIWA Leadership Conference

CCB Chairman, @abdubel, participated in the maiden edition of the NACIWA Leadership Conference held on 21–22 July 2026 at the ECOWAS Commission Headquarters, Abuja.

Dr. Bello announced that the Online Assets Declaration System (OALDS) is ready and will be deployed soon. He also announced an AI-powered investigation and case management tool he created to support investigators, improve efficiency, reduce bias and strengthen evidence-based investigations.
He further highlighted the Bureau's risk-based approach to investigations and encouraged public institutions to utilise CCPO Manuals to deepen their knowledge and compliance with the Code of Conduct for public offivers. He appreciated the EFCC's continued support for staff capacity development and acknowledged the Federal Government's commitment to advancing Nigeria's anti-corruption agenda.
