BJP’s vote-bank states Uttar Pradesh and Bihar get ₹18,000 cr and ₹10,000 cr respectively, while Karnataka is left with a mere ₹3,700 crore.

All five southern states put together get less than Uttar Pradesh.

Karnataka alone contributed ~₹1.6 lakh crore in GST in FY 2024–25, and ~₹1.9–2.2 lakh crore in direct and corporate taxes, yet the Centre shortchanges us.

For every ₹100 Karnataka sends to Delhi, we get back ₹12, while UP gets ₹295 back & Bihar gets ₹770 back.

We are the state that creates maximum jobs, absorbs the highest number of migrants, leads in IT/ITeS exports and powering the nation’s growth, yet we are being starved of funds by the Centre.

Why is @BJP4Karnataka silent now? Instead of Dharmasthala Chalo, they should do a Delhi Chalo.

I strongly condemn this Bill, which strikes at the very root of democracy, and I call upon all the democratic forces to unite against this attempt to turn India into a dictatorship.

The Union BJP Government has decided to defile the Constitution and its democratic foundations by turning India into a dictatorship under the Prime Minister.

After the expose of #VoteTheft, the very mandate on which the Union BJP Government was formed is in serious question. Its legitimacy is doubtful. Having stolen the mandate of the people through fraud, the BJP is now desperate to distract public attention from this exposé. To do that, they have brought in the #130thConstitutionalAmendmentBill.

The plan of this Bill is clear. It allows the BJP to foist false cases against political opponents in power across States and remove them by misusing provisions that treat even a 30-day arrest as a ground for removal of an elected leader, without any conviction or trial. This unconstitutional amendment will certainly be struck down by the courts because guilt is decided only after trial, not by the mere registration of a case.

This is a sinister attempt to intimidate regional parties in the NDA, whose leaders are CMs or Ministers in various States — “stick with us or else…”

The first move of any emerging dictator is to give himself the power to arrest and remove rivals from office. That is exactly what this Bill seeks to do.

Sharing my opening remarks as we felicitate Shri B. Sudershan Reddy as Opposition Party’s Joint Vice-Presidential Candidate —

1. It is with great pride and conviction that the Opposition parties present Shri B. Sudershan Reddy as our joint candidate for the office of Vice-President of India.

2. A towering figure in Indian jurisprudence, Shri Reddy is renowned for his unwavering commitment to justice. He has been a fearless champion of social, economic, and political equality, delivering landmark judgments that have strengthened the fabric of our Democracy.

3. This Vice-Presidential election is not merely a contest for an office; it is an ideological battle for the soul of our nation. While the ruling party has chosen the ideology of RSS, we uphold the Constitution and its values as our guiding light.

4. Shri B. Sudershan Reddy embodies the timeless values of justice, equality, and inclusivity that fuelled India’s freedom movement and form the bedrock of our Constitution.

5. At a time when the integrity of our democratic institutions is facing unprecedented challenges, his nomination stands as a firm commitment to restoring fairness, impartiality, and dignity to the functioning of the Rajya Sabha, which has been in steady decline.

6. The credibility of India’s democratic polity rests on Parliament serving as a robust forum where Members freely and fairly articulate the grievances and aspirations of the people they represent.

7. Constitutional Amendment Bill that undermine the core values of parliamentary democracy and federalism are being introduced in subterfuge at the fag end of the session, leaving no scope for meaningful debate or scrutiny.

8. Over the last 11 years, we have witnessed the blatant misuse of parliamentary majority to arm the autonomous agencies like ED, I-T, and CBI with draconian powers to target opposition leaders.

9. Now, these new Bills are set to become instruments in the hands of the ruling party to further undermine and destabilise democratically elected governments in the states.

10. In Parliament, we have seen a growing trend of stifling opposition voices. We are repeatedly denied the opportunity to raise matters of vital public concern in the House.

11. Parliament has been reduced to a tool for advancing the ruling party’s ideology, with several important bills being passed in din and without proper deliberation.

12. Such actions erode the Parliament’s role as an impartial and effective legislative forum, diminished public trust, and favoured the treasury benches at the expense of equitable debate.

13. To resist and decisively act against these transgressions in Parliament, the nation needs an exemplary impartial justice like Shri B. Sudershan Reddy as the Vice-President of India. His nomination represents our collective resolve to defend and uphold the democratic ideals that define India.

14. Shri Reddy’s life and work reflect the spirit of our Constitution, a commitment to fairness, compassion, and the empowerment of every citizen.

15. These principles will guide his leadership as Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, ensuring that the House operates as a true bastion of democratic discourse.

16. We, the Opposition parties, stand united in our support for Shri Reddy. We are confident that his wisdom, integrity, and dedication will inspire and guide our nation toward a future rooted in justice and unity.

17. We call upon every member of Parliament to join us in this historic endeavour to protect and preserve the values that make our democracy vibrant and resilient.

18. आखिर में चंद बातें मैं हिंदी में कहना चाहूंगा। पिछले 11 सालों में विपक्ष के प्रति सत्तापक्ष भारी भेदभाव कर रहा है। सत्तापक्ष खुद संसदीय कार्यों में बाधा डालने का काम करता है। बहुमत का दुरुपयोग कर जन-विरोधी क़ानून पारित करने का काम तब भी जारी है ,जबकि यह अल्पमत की सरकार है।

19. मानसून सत्र में भी पूरे देश ने देखा है कि कैसे मोदी सरकार ने बिना विपक्ष की भागीदारी के मनमाने तरीके से जल्दबाजी में बिलों को पारित किया है।

20. इसमें सभापति की भूमिका भी काफी अहम रही। विपक्षी सांसदों को बोलने ना देना, उन्हें बिना कारण निलंबित कर देना, भारतीय संसद के लिए काला अध्याय साबित हुआ।

21. उपराष्ट्रपति का पद देश का दूसरा सर्वोच्च संवैधानिक पद है। डॉ एस राधाकृष्णन के जमाने से जो शानदार परंपराएं राज्य सभा में स्थापित हुई थीं और विपक्ष को वाजिब सम्मान मिलता रहा था, वे सारी परंपराएं अब खंडित हो रही हैं।

22. इसीलिए विपक्षी दलों ने मिलकर तय किया है कि हम ऐसे पूर्व न्यायाधीश को अपना उम्मीदवार बनाए जिनका पूरा जीवन संवैधानिक परंपराओं, मान्यताओं और लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों के प्रति समर्पित रहा हो।

23. Joint Opposition की तरफ़ से हम सबने पूर्व जस्टिस बी सुदर्शन रेड्डी जी को अपना उम्मीदवार घोषित किया है।

24. इस मौके पर मैं दोनो सदनों के सभी सांसदों से यह अपील करना चाहूंगा कि संविधान, संसद और लोकतंत्र की उच्चतम मर्यादाओं को दोबारा स्थापित करने के लिए आप सभी श्री सुदर्शन रेड्डी जी को समर्थन देकर निर्वाचित करें।

When Parliament is silenced, the streets must roar.

The issue of Chinese incursions is not just serious, it strikes at the heart of national sovereignty. We have repeatedly demanded answers, both inside and outside Parliament.

But this Government, in its delirium to peddle propaganda and project hollow bravado 24x7, is too afraid to face real questions in Parliament.

When a government fails so spectacularly to defend our borders, it is every citizen’s moral obligation to hold it accountable.
