In the last few weeks, Alberta separatism has dominated headlines. Whether we like it or not, this debate is here, it's getting louder - and the pro-Canada side needs to show up.
Let's talk about why and how we push back against Alberta separatism and fight for Canada. 🇨🇦
A Good Friday prayer:
You broke the bonds
And you loosed the chains
Carried the cross
Oh my shame
Oh my shame
You know I believe it
📽️ U2 performing “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” (1987)
📕 Psalm 107:14, Isaiah 58:6, Romans 10:11
In “One,” Bono sings of the tension in fractured relationships, whilst pointing to the unity God intends for us all. Amidst such pain, he affirms that love can call us all to carry each other, echoing the biblical call to oneness in Christ in our differences and hurt.
“One life, but we’re not the same / We get to carry each other, carry each other.”
(Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 4:4-6; Galatians 6:2)
“OCTOBER” by U2 with Biblical Allusions
October and the trees are stripped bare
Of all they wear...
But you go on
And on
“All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” Isaiah 40:6-8 NIV (see also Psalm 103:15-19 NIV)
October and kingdoms rise
And kingdoms fall
But you go on
And on
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts... He says, “Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:6,10 NIV
Jesus: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom... Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” Matthew 24:7,35, Mark 13:8,31 & Luke 21:10,33 NIV
THE LIFE AND ASSASSINATION of MLK inspired Bono to write two songs: “Pride (In the Name of Love)” and “MLK.” Both songs contain Biblical allusions, but “MLK” is more cryptic with “thundercloud” and “rain.”

The grave is now a groove
All debts are removed

Bringing people together through the arts builds strong and resilient communities. I can’t think of a greater gift to our future. Thank you @tanya_fir!
Peace on Earth, we need it now... They're reading names out over the radio, the folks the rest of us will never get to know… Gal and Ayat, Hind and Mila. Their lives are bigger than any big idea.
