Silence feels uncomfortable because silence has become unfamiliar. Just 30 seconds of silence and you panic. Reach for your phone. You want to escape because silence is a mirror. It asks you to face yourself. The thoughts you've been avoiding. The emotions you've been suppressing. The actions you've been delaying. So you keep filling every empty moment with noise. Scroll. Watch. Listen. Repeat. Numbing yourself until you forget what our own mind even sounds like. But remember, everything you are looking for is on the other side of thirty seconds of stillness. Sit with it... Just to remember what you sound like. You have been trying to find yourself in the noise for a long time. You are not there. You never were.
The amount of effort it takes just to live in a decent home that's cluttered but not dirty, keep the dishes clean, eat reasonably healthy food, stay in decent shape, keep up with the laundry, and maintain healthy cholesterol levels, is exhausting.
Motivational speakers are always saying, “Wake up at 4am and run. Be an alpha!” But if you look at apex predators, they’re all lazy. Lions, tigers, they sleep all day and hunt in the evening. You know who wakes up at 4am and runs? Rats.
The Earth was fully stocked: water to drink, soil to grow food, forests to shelter us, a sun that rises every day, a moon that moves water, and oceans that regulate the climate. Then, men invented war, debt and capitalism.
Working 8–9 hours a day just to come home and have only four hours of personal time and rest, including preparing for the next day, feels deeply wrong and sad.
Be ordinary. There is nothing wrong with an ordinary life. Wake up slowly. Make your coffee. Cook simple meals. Go for walks. Love people who match your vibe. Do honest work. But the thing is... bring your whole awareness to it. Every little thing you do, be there. That’s what changes everything. Stop rushing through life. When you are fully present, even the simplest things become beautiful. A quiet morning. A good conversation. A book in your hands. The warm sun on your skin. Stop trying so hard to create a special life. A special life is the one that aligns with your heart. Live an ordinary life with extraordinary awareness. That’s what makes it special.
“They're very scared of White people. Anytime they speak to the Whites, they're very respectful. But when it is blacks, they're violent.”
