Multnomah County is actively working with a contractor to design emergency repairs needed to reopen the Stark Street Bridge. The bridge is expected to be closed for several months. The County is expecting to have an updated timeline on repairs next week.

TRAFFIC ALERT: The Stark Street Bridge in the Columbia River Gorge is closed until further notice due to a supporting stone wall that’s partially collapsed. Engineers are on their way to assess damage. Use alternative routes. Standby for updates.

At its board meeting Thursday, Sept. 12, the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution to move forward with the inverted Y design option for the future look of the new Burnside Bridge.

REMINDER: The Hawthorne Bridge closes at 7 p.m. tonight for bridge repairs. The bridge will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5. During this work, crews will also set up temporary bicycle and pedestrian detours.

Ship Arrivals:

Wednesday, June 5: Expect six ships arriving with bridge lifts between 2:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Lifts will be longer than normal, in some cases up to 45 minutes.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Fleet Week, which begins the week of June 3, will impact several downtown Portland bridges maintained by Multnomah County.

The Broadway and Burnside bridges will lift for ships arriving in Portland during the annual event that brings in U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and Canadian ships.
