🔈‼️ Stay Covered, Stay Healthy: Upcoming Changes to Medicaid and OHP
🗓️ Federal Medicaid and Oregon Health Plan (OHP) rule changes are taking effect in 2027 under House Bill H.R.1. Patients have started receiving letters from the Oregon Health Authority regarding these plan updates.
➡️ Two key requirements will affect most adults:
Six-Month Renewals: Adult patients must renew their OHP insurance every six months to maintain coverage.
Work & Volunteer Reporting: Most adults will need to share information regarding their work and volunteer activities.
📞 Our health center is committed to helping patients understand their options and navigate these changes seamlessly. If you have any questions, please call 503-988-5270 or visit https://t.co/vg5wuX8a2a

💉💉We try to take care of our sexual health in so many ways, like getting regular STI screenings and using PrEP to prevent HIV infection. If you’re sexually active, getting both doses of the mpox vaccine is another great way to take care of yourself too.
💬 Ask your health care provider about the mpox vaccine at your next visit or check with your pharmacy or local health department.

🚨Gambling is changing!
📉What are prediction markets?
💲Prediction markets are part of a wave of financial, technological, and behavioral innovation that is changing how people move money, invest, speculate, and interact with risk.
Why does this matter? New types of gambling may feel different from what we traditionally think of as “gambling.” Because of this, it is essential that we discuss our level of involvement and how these activities affect our emotional well-being.
🤔Pause and ask yourself, “Am I doing this for entertainment or am I trying to win back money, escape from stress or prove I can beat the odds?”
💬Open the conversation on gambling.

😒 When the Thrill Is Gone.
🚨When gambling becomes a problem, researchers believe that the Reward center of the brain and the Habit center stop working together harmoniously. The gas pedal gets pressed too much and, all of a sudden, we are now in the habit of gambling.
🧠 This change in the brain makes people who experience harm from their gambling become overly aware of gambling cues, which in turn causes strong urges to gamble. But when actually gambling, they feel less pleasure in it because now it is a habit.
What can you do if gambling used to be fun and now it’s not? Pause and ask yourself, “Am I doing this for entertainment or am I trying to win back money, escape from stress or prove I can beat the odds?”
✅ Check in with yourself. Set a firm budget ahead of time. Reach out for support if you need help taking a break or walking away.

📱It can be harder to resist when all you need is access to a phone or computer to bet on sports, prediction markets, or crypto investing. In the past, placing a bet or buying an asset required physical movement or a phone call. Today, it takes two clicks.
If you or someone you know is finding it tough to maintain boundaries around gambling, make a plan to slow things down:
💻 Tech Barriers: Use website blockers or an app to restrict access during specific hours.
💶 Financial Barriers: Keep trading or betting funds in a completely separate account with no instant-transfer links to your main checking account.
🔕 Notification Silencing: Turn off all push alerts from financial or betting apps to stop them from pulling your attention back in.
🧊 Cooling-Off Periods: Many platforms have built-in "safe gambling" tools that let you lock yourself out of your account for days, weeks, or months at a time.

✅ Crestas, barbillas, ojos, cuello, patas o pies hinchados.
🍁 As fall migration begins, the risk of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) increases across Oregon.
🐔Whether you raise chickens, ducks, turkeys, or other birds, now is the time to watch for signs of illness, and take action to prevent the spread of this disease.
🐈 🐕 Bird flu can also make people and other household animals like dogs and cats sick, so it’s important for everyone’s health to prevent bird flu when keeping backyard chickens, ducks or geese.
🚿Make sure they’re in a covered, secure space where it’s not easy for wild birds to get close to them. Clean and change out any equipment, food and water bowls frequently. Don’t forget to always wash your hands before and after tending to your chickens.
Signs of bird flu include:
✅ Low energy or appetite.
✅ Swollen combs, wattles, eyes, neck, legs, or feet.
✅ Birds that are stumbling or falling down.
✅ Respiratory symptoms like difficulty breathing, nasal discharge, coughing or sneezing
✅ Sudden, unexplained death
😷Make sure to wear extra protective equipment, including gloves, a mask (an N-95 is best), and eye protection if you’re caring for birds that might be sick.
📞If you’re worried your birds are sick, contact the Oregon State Vet at [email protected]
Or call 971-673-1111.

@NameWithheld6 According to the OHA 1 to 3 out of 1000 may die of measles. None out of Oregon's 54 reported cases have died so far. Two individuals have required hospitalization.
As of today, Sept. 4, Oregon has reported 54 measles cases since the start of 2026. We encourage people to ensure they are protected against measles.
Measles is one of the most contagious diseases in the world, and it can be quite severe and even cause death.
The good news is that two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine are 97% effective in preventing measles. Call a health care provider to learn more about becoming vaccinated.
