“It was like this biblical battle where the Palestinian men … went in front of me to protect … me and my rescuers from being attacked again,” Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine told Jake Tapper.
Levine was kicked, beaten with clubs and robbed by Israeli settlers while covering Friday’s olive harvest in the occupied West Bank, leaving her with multiple broken bones. Speaking after leaving the hospital, she said Israeli soldiers charged Palestinian farmers as settlers advanced alongside them. She said that unlike her, Palestinian victims endure these attacks daily, with absolutely nowhere safe to go.

Brazil: Flávio Bolsonaro asked President Lula in their first runoff debate why 73% of prisoners voted for him.
Lula replied that he wants “100% to vote, even your father,” referring to jailed former President Jair Bolsonaro.
“Let me die,” American photojournalist Heidi Levine repeats to journalists Jasper Nathaniel as they try to outrun masked Israeli settlers who attacked her on Friday while she covered the olive harvest in the West Bank village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah.
Around 80 settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in the village, AP reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated six people injured in two attacks in Abu Falah.
Levine, a freelancer for the Washington Post, told the Committee to Protect Journalists that the settlers knocked her down and kicked her for at least 10 minutes, even after she identified herself as an American journalist. They stole her camera, phone and bag. She was eventually taken to a hospital in Ramallah.
"The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat" Levine "nearly to death," Nathaniel wrote, adding that soldiers then shot a Palestinian bystander and aimed their guns at and shoved paramedics trying to treat him. AP photos and circulating videos show Israeli soldiers standing over a wounded Palestinian man after they shot him.
Andrey X, an activist also at the scene, said a Palestinian man "saved our lives from the settler-terrorists who attacked the olive harvesters and journalists” armed only with a slingshot.

More evidence that the police do not work for politicians or take orders from them. The police work for the capitalist ruling class. That is why socialism cannot be achieved through elections — elections don’t change who is in power.
Part of the reason some in the left want Mayor Mamdani to fire NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch is her family's ties to the NYPD's partnership with Israeli police.
After 9/11, the NYPD began stationing intelligence officers in cities abroad so it could get “terrorism” information directly instead of relying on federal agencies.
One of those posts, in place since 2007, is in Israel. Since 2012, the officer there, Detective Charlie Benaim, a former IDF officer, has worked out of the Israel National Police's Sharon District headquarters in Kfar Saba, north of Tel Aviv.
Mamdani has not ordered the NYPD to cut ties with Israeli police, City & State reported in August. The program is partly funded by the NYC Police Foundation, a private charity backed by wealthy donors. Tisch's uncle Andrew Tisch chairs its board, and her cousin Alexander Tisch is a trustee.
Tisch family members also donate to the foundation, according to the research and journalism outlet The Polis Project, though the amounts are not public.

🚨🇨🇺 BREAKING — Cuba:
Díaz-Canel denounces 6 Decades of U.S. illegal peacetime blockade and sanctions.
“Under these circumstances, which directly affect agricultural production, food processing, refrigeration, transportation, distribution and logistics, Cuba has chosen to act, treating each challenge as an opportunity to accelerate structural transformations that strengthen our resilience.”
Yielding to U.S. pressure undermines national sovereignty and independent decision-making. Every vote at the @UN affects Cubans enduring collective punishment under the U.S. blockade.
Their suffering must never become political currency in U.S. elections.
#CubaNoEsUnaAmenza
The US Secretary of State is nervous and anxious in the face of a new defeat at the United Nations. He is putting pressure on and blackmailing Heads of State and Government from several countries so that they change their vote against the blockade at the UN General Assembly.
Through his repeated lies and new actions he attempts to silence the act of collective punishment against the Cuban people and turn the rest of the international community into an accomplice of this barbaric act.
#CubaIsNotAThreat The Blockade Is.
Mamdani says he won't fire Tisch because of "her record in uprooting" corruption.
But she used her role as commissioner under Adams to facilitate a deal with the Feds that deepened NYPD-ICE cooperation in direct violation of sanctuary city laws.

⭕️ Mayor Zohran Mamdani: “Jessica Tisch is the police commissioner. I have no plans to change that. The reason that I made the decision… was because of her record of uprooting corruption from the upper echelons of the NYPD while lowering crime across our city. And over the last 10 months that we've worked together, we have delivered the lowest recorded number of murders in our city's history, the lowest recorded number of shootings as well as shooting victims.”
