A man was left embarrassed after being rushed to hospital having turned completely blue from head to toe - only to discover the true cause 🙈
Tommy Lynch woke up looking like "an Avatar". His friend took one look at him and rushed him to A&E - worried something might be seriously wrong.
The 42-year-old was immediately seen by a doctor and given a bed within minutes, while worried staff administered oxygen.
"Everyone in the reception of A&E was gawking at me like they'd seen a ghost," he said. "I had to approach the desk and I didn't even know what to say: 'Hi, I've woken up blue'." 🤷
"The doctors said they'd never seen someone that colour before and still been alive."
When the doctor swabbed his arm with an alcohol wipe, the swab turned blue - and Tommy suddenly realised what had happened 🙈
His friend Del had given him a new £40 bedding set as a gift. But, Tommy didn't realise he had to wash it first.
On the second night of using them, Tommy overslept and woke up in the afternoon completely "bright blue".
He said: "The day before, I'd shook hands with someone and they looked a light blue then but I thought I was just cold.
"The next night I must have overheated but I was lovely and cosy. My friend, Del, woke me up by knocking on the door as I'd slept for 14 hours and he took one look at me and said I needed to go to hospital."
He added: "As soon as they wiped my arm and it came off blue, it clicked. I was mortified but they said I'd given them a good laugh. They don't usually have funny stories in A&E."
Safe to say, Tommy left the hospital more red in the face than blue...
