🎉 Let's begin this week with celebration!
🚨Last week, we received the Innovative Project for Impact Award at the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 for our AI-Assisted Coding of Multilingual Job Descriptions for Faster Employment Statistics.
➡️The AI-powered tool classifies job and economic activity descriptions in Kinyarwanda, English, and French, significantly speeding up the production of Labour Force Survey statistics and strengthening the efficiency of official statistics production.
The project, developed under the first cohort of the Data Science Capacity Building Initiative (#DSCBI), delivered in collaboration with @RwandaICT, @AIMS_Rwanda, @Mastercard, @cenfri_org, and @RISARwanda, is a testament to the visionary leadership of Government of #Rwanda and reflects NISR's commitment to harnessing artificial intelligence to strengthen the production of official statistics.

At the AI for Impact Global South Forum during the India AI Impact Summit, Minister @MusoniPaula outlined Rwanda’s structured approach to AI as a tool for national development, emphasizing context, skills, and institutional readiness over one-size-fits-all solutions.
“We are committed to designing AI interventions that reflect our cultural values, infrastructure realities, and national priorities at the forefront, ensuring relevance and maximizing potential for impact.”
Today, Minister of State @yves_Iradukunda attended the Data Science Capacity Building Initiative (DSCBI) graduation, where 41 graduates from 17 public institutions were recognized for completing their training. This program equips them with the expertise to modernize the National Statistical System and drive Rwanda’s data-driven and AI-ready economy.
During the ceremony, he emphasized that "there can’t be effective AI adoption without strong data foundations, skilled talent, and institutional readiness." He encouraged partners to continue supporting the scaling of these capabilities to further embed data and AI across government.
🎓 Graduation Day
After more than six months of intensive learning and hands-on training, the 1st cohort of the #DSCBI program, composed of 41 public sector professionals, has been certified in data science.
In his opening remarks, our Head of Corporate Services Division @DavidNKUSI highlighted the importance of the initiative, reflecting the strong and growing partnership among institutions and a shared commitment to advancing data science skills and promoting evidence-based decision-making across government.

The Minister of State @RwandaICT Mr. @yves_Iradukunda congratulated the graduates and urged them to apply their newly acquired skills to drive institutional change.
He emphasized that, as #Rwanda advances toward a data-driven government and the adoption of emerging technologies, including #AI, it is essential to translate data expertise into practical service delivery.
Minister @MusoniPaula met with Jeremy Jurgens, Managing Director, Centre for Frontier Technologies and Innovation, and Manju George, Head of Strategy, Platform on Digital Economy, from the World Economic Forum, to discuss the evolution of the C4IR centres and opportunities for collaboration.
The conversation highlighted co-designing initiatives to address Africa’s challenges and fostering ongoing knowledge exchange.

We recently hosted a learning session with Cenfri's Data and AI Lead, Stefan Steffen, focused on making sense of the practical workflows of AI.
The discussion covered use cases, limits, risks, and how to approach these tools critically and responsibly in everyday work.
In partnership with @RwandaICT and the @certafoundation , we delivered an AI leadership session to 150 members of @RwandaParliamnt
