@TinaBubenzer1 @bdarker20 @CWintoniw I don't quite understand what people's grievances are with the province and municipalities. The province holds daily press conferences, municipalities have all seemed and transparent ... Maybe it's just people's dissatisfaction in general bleeding over (?). #mgmt0180
@TinaBubenzer1@laceygaudet Same thing, but only says first reading...
I think?
Kinda guess work, since aren't they only usually certified after adoption?
I'm not sure how appropriate it is to ask for advice on the final assignment BUT-
I'm noticing some gaps in required information to complete the documents. I'm just adding things like ??name?? to fill in the gaps rather than make stuff up.
What approach are you taking? #mgmt0180
Here's an interesting piece about special levies in Ontario, and more safeguard measures put in place for property owners #mgmt0180:

Anyone else look over the corrected quizzes and see the questions you got wrong and exclaim: "WELL, DUH, WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING?" Every time.
Well. Almost every time.
A few of them were somewhat trickily worded.
Hope everyone else's results are less disappointing! #mgmt0180
@Darlenethom2@jleigham1 I find it interesting municipalities contract this work out instead of dealing with it internally... Likely comes at an added cost (?). I'm curious as to whether there's any pushback from union heads or the taxpayers. #mgmt0180
@marcdarker Good!
I'm thinking that given how long it takes to hit tax sales, it might not be as big an issue, but it's nice to see them taking some steps. #mgmt0180
I think the most difficult thing to explain to the general public is that reassessments are revenue neutral... overall.
Especially when people pay more because of reassessment, they think it's a tax grab, but reassessments don't affect the overall amount collected. #mgmt0180
1/ What are your thoughts on a base tax?
I'm not sure if they have them in Manitoba, but in Saskatchewan it was a base amount all property owners pay. In Prince Albert, they placed road maintenance under this umbrella....
How is COVID-19 affecting your municipality, workload and schedule of responsibilities?
I'm curious, as probably the only person in this program who does not already work for a municipality.

@TinaBubenzer1 Sounds like something the AMM would write! Could apply to any province, really... They could pretty well copy/paste this sucker! #mgmt0180
Based on advisories from the provincial and federal governments regarding COVID-19 and recommendations for holding large-scale events, the AMM Board of Directors has decided to CANCEL our upcoming events in April.
I get why municipalities wouldn't like this, but I'm a fan of watchdog organizations like this. Helps with transparency... As a reporter, however, I've learned that few organizations genuinely like transparency. #mgmt0180

@TFiskel ... Still on the books? Hah!
Prince Albert had a few interesting ones still on the books, including one about bodily fluids -- that people can't spit downtown.
