I’m really shocked and distressed at the news about Ann Widdecombe.
She was a woman of deep faith who devoted her life to public service. The idea that she could have been murdered is truly horrifying.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family and all who loved her.
Antisemitism has no place in our schools or our society. Proud to support the launch of the new Tackling Antisemitism in Education programme—a free four-part online course available to all schools from 1 November. @APPGAA
Changes to SEND tribunals are causing real concern for families who have fought hard to secure their children's rights. The Government must ensure reforms improve—not weaken—the system. Thank you to the SEND Matters Coalition and @rorybremner for hosting this important event.
Happy 70th Birthday to @DofE! 🎉 Huge congratulations to everyone who’s completed their Bronze, Silver or Gold Award, and an even bigger congratulations to the teachers who willingly spend nights in tents and weekends on expeditions. Couldn’t be me! 😅
Nigel Farage is a Temu Trump who's spent his whole life dodging responsibility for his actions.
He has done nothing for his constituents and instead focused on lining his own pockets.
This new stunt is his latest attempt to escape consequences for his biggest grift. We won’t let him.
Half of children in kinship care have special needs, yet many carers step in during crisis with little information & schools often lack understanding of kinship care and trauma. As Vice Chair @APPGKinshipCare we’ve looked at how the SEND system can work better for these children.
🤝A packed room this morning as we tackled one of Britain's most urgent challenges: the one million young people not in education, employment or training.
Alan Milburn, fresh from his landmark review, joined @michaelgove to discuss school readiness, welfare reform, and why getting young people into work must be a national priority.📸
Highlights👇
.@Nigel_Farage has made a career out of ‘taking back control’ - but he is not being straight with the British people about who controls him.
Today, I have written to the Standards Commissioner to urge that the latest @thetimes@Gabriel_Pogrund revelations are investigated.
A thought provoking discussion @IPPR's panel on children's health. A clear reminder that if we’re serious about tackling health inequalities, we need to start with early intervention to give every child the best possible start in life.
Grateful to meet nurses, physios, psychologists, dieticians & speech therapists from @CnrtHrch. They provide incredible, holistic support to residents in our borough with stroke, MS, motor neurone disease, Parkinson's and other neurological conditions.
Thanks to the Y6 head boys and girls at Trafalgar Junior for showing me around, and to the Y5 Pupil Parliament reps for their speeches for & against AI – a topical & complex issue! Lovely to present pupils from the Infant School with some very well-deserved awards, too.
The first 1001 days, from pregnancy to age two, of a baby's life are crucial in laying the foundations for lifelong health and wellbeing. Parents and carers should be able to get trusted support early, before difficulties become crises. #BackTheBabiesBill
Score for Liberal Democrat Home Affairs spokesperson @mpmwilko
The Government is now letting pubs stay open for this weekend’s game after he raised the issue in Parliament today! 🏴
