**TOPIC #84: PI NETWORK TO THE WORLD - ANALYSIS OF THE PI NETWORK OM PROCESS**
All pioneers have been eagerly awaiting the launch of Pi Network's Open Mainnet (OM) for three years. Many were anxious for the Pi Core Team (PCT) to announce the Pi value on February 20, 2025.
However, the reality has shocked and disappointed most pioneers, as the PCT did not announce the Pi value as expected. The exchange markets have shown a range for Pi's price, from $2 to a low of $0.50. Subsequently, various rumors have circulated across social media and communities, leaving many pioneers confused about what transpired. Even supporters of the GCV are beginning to have doubts.
In light of these concerns within our community, I would like to share my analysis from my perspective. Please note that I am not affiliated with the PCT, so this is simply for your reference. If you agree with my insights and choose to take action, that would be wonderful. Conversely, if you disagree, I respect your opinion. I welcome constructive advice but not attacks or insults, because if you are a true pioneer, we are all in this together. We need to help the Pi Network and our community progress rather than harm ourselves.
1. **What are Open Network, Enclosed Mainnet, and Open Mainnet?**
-The Enclosed Network Period:
This period began in December 2021. The Enclosed Network signifies that the Mainnet is live but is protected by a firewall that prevents any unwanted external connectivity. Pioneers will have the opportunity to complete their KYC (Know Your Customer) process and migrate their Pi to the live Mainnet blockchain. Once migrated, the Pi can be used, at the discretion of the pioneer, to purchase goods and services in Pi apps, transfer to other pioneers, or be locked for a certain duration for a higher mining rate. KYC-approved pioneers will be able to use their Pi freely in a closed environment within the Pi Network. However, during this period, there is no connectivity between the Pi blockchain and other blockchains, and exchanging Pi for fiat currency or other cryptocurrencies is not permitted.
-Open Network:
This means that external connectivity to the Pi Network is now available for the Pi Community worldwide. The Open Network has unlocked Pi’s thriving ecosystem, innovative applications, and extensive peer-to-peer network for integration with the broader blockchain world. The Open Network is key to Pi’s mission to create an inclusive, utility-driven, and widely adopted cryptocurrency accessible to anyone. It allows users to exchange Pi for fiat or other cryptocurrencies.
-Open Mainnet:
From my understanding, this refers to activating the source code. We can say that the Open Mainnet is the second stage of the Open Network which means all source code being activated and implemented.
If pioneers can understand these two phases, they will not be misled by rumors regarding the confiscation of their Pi when they use five verified KYB exchange markets. It is safe; I bought from Gate, and the Pi was transferred to my wallet five days ago without issue. There are other GCV Ambassadors and pioneers who transferred their assets to their wallets half a month ago, and everything is secure. Pi is considered public property and is protected by the laws of all countries. There is no reason for CT confiscate the wallets of millions of pioneers while they referred the five exchange markets as KYB business. Thus, all pioneers should use their judgment. Those who advocate for the confiscation of wallets may not understand that this is an Open Network. All previous mainnet policies have changed, or some individuals may not want pioneers to engage in the exchange market to manipulate the Pi price and keep it artificially low. The current exchange market price of Pi does not reflect its true value; it has been distorted. Therefore, pioneers should not feel discouraged by the current Pi price. We can develop strategies to ensure the price reflects the true value of our ecosystem.
**2. Why Pi Network Must Enter the Exchange Market and What It Means**:
I find that many pioneers reject the idea of the Pi Network being on the exchange market. They feel panicked and disappointed, believing that Pi should be a digital currency and questioning why it is entering the exchange market now.
To help clarify the current status of the Pi Network in relation to our ultimate goal of becoming a currency, consider this analogy:
Imagine you are opening a restaurant. You purchase equipment, rent a building in a good location, hire a chef, waiters, and waitresses, and complete everything necessary to open. However, before you can officially open, you need to obtain a license from your local food industry organization.
Here’s another example: If you want to apply for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in Washington State, you must first have the qualifications to take the exams, pass all the required courses, and accumulate work experience before you can apply for the license.
Similarly, if you have successfully produced a new product, passed all necessary factory or research center tests, and the product belongs to a regulated industry, you must obtain the appropriate licenses before you can sell it.
This principle applies to the Pi Network as well. The goal of the Pi Network is to become a digital currency. However, this is the first time in human history that a currency has been created by regular people. Therefore, both the community and PCT cannot fully anticipate the challenges we will face. We must work together to overcome barriers. When something new appears in the world, growth is rarely smooth, as people tend to resist change—especially since the Pi Network has the potential to reshape the world. Wealthy individuals from the past may risk losing their affluence if the Pi Network succeeds, while those from poorer backgrounds could become millionaires or even billionaires. Do you think those with established interests will willingly transfer their wealth to others?
Therefore, it's normal to face various challenges. However, because we have a large population in our community, as long as we can unite and see through the barriers, we can definitely overcome these challenges.
Just as Pi Network initially didn't plan to be listed on the exchange market, we have always focused on ecosystem development. We successfully achieved this with GCV on the blockchain record, which has been encoded into the system. This means we have passed the internal community test. Now, we need to present ourselves to the world and gain recognition for Pi Network and GCV. Since we cannot reject the exchange market, why not embrace it and take advantage of its benefits? Everything in the world has pros and cons. We can use this opportunity to demonstrate to the world just how strong our Pi Network community is!
This stage allows us to showcase our commitment to Pi. We will comply with all countries' regulations, especially those set by the US SEC. We will let the exchange market test whether GCV can prove to be a stable price for Pi. Everyone should understand that to achieve your goals and dreams, you need to put in the work rather than demand that others do it for you. If you demand without effort, you will likely be disappointed. We can only depend on ourselves, and we should unite together. Breaking a single chopstick is easy, but breaking a dozen chopsticks by hand is impossible. Now, with almost 70 million pioneers, can you imagine how powerful we can be if we unite? We can prevent low-priced Pi from being sold on the exchange market by collectively buying out all the low-priced offerings, then only sell when GCV is reached. Imagine what that would do!
Everyone knows that diamonds are extremely expensive. However, the cost to produce a diamond is not much higher than that of jewelry. The reason diamonds are so expensive is due to the control exercised by large companies over their supply. We can do the same with Pi by ensuring that low-priced offerings are not available in the market. We can control the supply which means we don't sell except GCV! And we buy all low price Pi back to reduce supply. Just as diamond companies invest heavily in advertising to create perceived value, we've already begun that process within our community. We have been focusing on GCV education and ecosystem development for over two years, resulting in more than 5 million GCV data points and a plethora of GCV merchants. When investors come to buy Pi, they will expect it to reach GCV and will likely hold onto it instead of selling now. This is what sets Pi Network apart from first-generation cryptocurrencies. Our strong community supports GCV, and those seeking maximum profit will recognize the value of holding onto Pi rather than selling it at low prices.
All pioneers should understand that we have made significant progress with GCV, and now we are shifting our focus from within the community to the global stage. Through the exchange market, external investors will have the opportunity to become pioneers like us, as they missed the initial chances. The mining speed is now very slow, at 2 Pi monthly, and in the future, it will be below 1 or even 0.1 Pi per year. We currently have 70 million pioneers, but there are over 8 billion people in the world. Isn’t this a great opportunity for them to hold Pi?
We should not be jealous of those who can buy 1 Pi for $1 or $2. You can buy Pi as well. When they purchase Pi today, they are helping you realize your dream of achieving GCV. Do you think the number of Pi you hold is more important, or is the value of Pi itself what truly matters? Therefore, we should appreciate those who buy Pi because they are contributing to our goal of GCV.
I know many pioneers are desperate to pass KYC and complete the migration process. Some have expressed their frustration with the slow pace of KYC and migration. Now, you have a great opportunity! You can buy 10 Pi for just $18. You should be happy because you don't need to wait endlessly for KYC and migration. You can buy Pi and list it on the exchange market; when OM and the code are activated, you'll be able to exchange it for fiat money to pay off your debts or buy a house and car. So why not take advantage of this opportunity?
I know some pioneers have locked 100% of their funds for 3 years. Now you have the chance to buy 10 Pi so that you don't have to wait for 3 years.
I understand that some countries and regions are facing sanctions. This is also a good opportunity to buy at the lowest price and hold your Pi in the exchange market. Just 10 Pi for $18 can help resolve many of your hardships.
I believe the reason CT has verified five exchange markets is to provide us with the best opportunity in the world. When the source code becomes active on OM, many ecosystems will emerge. However, we still need more pioneers who own Pi to facilitate bartering. This is a great opportunity to ensure that Pi is widely held and to support our ecosystem.
Meanwhile, we can demonstrate to the world that we, as a pioneers' community, value our Pi and believe in GCV. To gain respect from people worldwide, we must first respect ourselves. Valuing our Pi is a reflection of our six years of mining, strong beliefs, and hard work.
I see many pioneers who want to enjoy the fruits of victory but are choosing the wrong path. What they are doing may be harming themselves. We should exercise wisdom to guide the community rather than chase after fame or power, as those things are temporary. Our efforts can benefit the Pi Network and bring genuine happiness to our community. So please, do not turn against your own true intentions.
**3. Can we win the GCV in a short time?**
This is a good question. It's similar to a soldier asking the General if they can win the battle. First, you must have a strong belief in victory. Second, remember that victory doesn’t just fall from the sky; it requires effort. Winning depends on all soldiers listening to the General's strategy and being brave in battle. The General can only say: listen and execute the strategy, and you must be courageous. If we follow this path, we will win. This implies that winning has conditions, and those conditions lie within ourselves.
I notice some pioneers are just lying back, waiting for answers. This is the wrong approach. Victory comes from our collective effort. If you are a soldier but you sleep on your duty and fear going into battle, how can you expect to win? The same principle applies to the Pi project. We need to take action—whether it’s buying back Pi, holding onto it, or sharing correct information within our community to support each other. If you merely criticize those who are working hard for you, or spread doubt, are you not the one delaying our victory?
Currently, the dealers will run out of their Pi. They sell and buy at the same time to create the low fake price. The lower they input into the market, the sooner they will run out. Therefore, it's important for us to buy back these low-priced Pi so that dealers cannot repurchase and reinject it into the market. We have 70 million pioneers, and if 10 million of them take action, the market can acquire 200 million Pi if each pioneer buys 20 Pi. Widespread support is key.
Some pioneers are wondering how long it will take. From my perspective, it could take one day, two days, three days, four days, five days, or seven days, as long as you take responsibility instead of complaining or waiting idly. However if all of us just lying down and wait, it will take longer time to active code.
**4. Why do we need to work hard? Shouldn't CT arrange everything for us?**
This is another misconception. This misunderstanding arises from a lack of clarity about the relationship between CT and the pioneers. Let me provide an analogy.
Think of a husband and wife. Each has their responsibilities, and neither can replace the other in the family dynamics. Husband cannot take on the role of birthing a baby, and the wife cannot fulfill the husband's duties. Today, CT and the pioneers operate in the same way; both have unique identities. CT is responsible for technical work, infrastructure, funding, and legal matters. However, they cannot handle the Pi value or the pricing of the project. While they can do everything else, the responsibility for Pi value and price falls to the pioneers.
Do not expect CT to handle the Pi price on the exchange market. If they attempted to do so, they would be subject to SEC regulations, potentially leading to the closure of the Pi Network. Therefore, pioneers, it is essential to understand your role clearly.
**5. Why Pi Network is Supposed to be a Currency as value in the Ecosystem, but is on the Exchange Market and is Called a Price**
As I explained before, Pi Network's goal is to function as a currency. However, there is uncertainty about whether it will eventually be classified as a security. During the enclosed mainnet phase, we focused on its use as a currency because it was within our community, and we could make decisions about it. Now that we are in the open network phase and it is listed on exchange markets, it will be subject to SEC regulations regarding securities. When it is treated as a security, we refer to it as a "price" because it is available for buying and selling.
However, if our community can unite, we can elevate it to a stable coin, as defined by the code at $314.159 with some fluctuation within 1%. It’s important to note that we need to work hard on this.
Currently, the price is being manipulated and may not accurately represent the consensus value of the pioneers' GCV There’s no need to be discouraged by the current price; instead, you should fight for your beliefs rather than simply accept the situation. Pi’s fate, and consequently our fate, should not be determined by a few dealers. This is not the time to complain; we should be brave and have courage. Our future is in our hands. We will say NO to this manipulated price. Only losers accept failure.
Stop complaining and sell Pi, except for GCV. Buy back whenever you can; 10 Pi is a good amount for each pioneer if you can afford it. Share this information with your community and encourage each other.
**6. Some Pioneers Say We Should Focus on the Ecosystem, Not the Exchange Market – This is Not Correct**
The priority is indeed the exchange market because the time is critical. We have successfully established GCV within the code already. Right now, however, the GCV data is not as important as the exchange price. The ecosystem cannot be independent from the exchange. When the exchange market price is unstable and low, it will dissuade merchants from accepting Pi as payment. No merchant is likely to accept a currency that is not stable.
To protect merchants from losses, I suggest the following:
- Stop full Pi payments for large commodities.
- Accept partial Pi payments at GCV for small items.
- For large commodities, partial Pi payments at GCV will be decided by yourself as per your business situation.
I draw upon the historical example of the "Besieging Wei to Rescue Zhao" strategy to illustrate how an indirect approach combined with a focus on the center of gravity can achieve optimal results. The success of the campaign that saved Zhao (354-353 BC) has since become a well-known Chinese proverb and serves as one of the strategies recorded in the military classic known as the "Thirty-Six Stratagems." We should adopt a similar approach; we will use the exchange market to save our GCV ecosystem. Only when we reach GCV on exchange market, the $314,159 code can be implemented. This is for compliance with SEC regulation.
I hope today's analysis provides pioneers with a comprehensive understanding of our current situation. I encourage all pioneers to read it carefully and take action. I acknowledge that the code proves our community's success in establishing GCV. We have passed CT approval, but we need global recognition of GCV. If we unite, we can achieve this!
