On New Year's Day 1880, the 'Blanchland Murderβ took place. Robert Snowball, the master of the house, was hit in the head from behind, so brutally that his teeth were knocked out and the hammer was half embedded in his skull.
The police would conclude that it was impossible for blood to drip from the ceiling. However, the inquiry would be jeopardized by Robert's father cleaning up the crime scene before the police was done doing its job.
Bonaventure #Cemetery in Savannah #Georgia is said to be the site of multiple ghosts. Among the cemetery's resident is that of Gracie Watson, a 6-year-old who died of pneumonia in 1889. Her #ghost is said to haunt the life-size statue that stands over her grave. #paranormal
William Palmer was convicted for the 1855 murder of his friend John Cook, and was executed in public by hanging the following year. He was suspected of poisoning several other people including his brother and his mother-in-law, as well as four of his children. #victorian#murder
The Waverly Hills Sanatorium in #Kentucky USA was built to treat victims of tuberculosis. Over 8000 did not make it and it has been rumored to be #haunted. In particular, Room 502, where two nurses are said to have killed themselves. Voices can be heard saying to get out. #ghost
William Sheward murdered his wife Martha on 15 June 1851 by stabbing her to death with a pair of scissors. He committed the crime in a rage, then set about dismembering the body which he successfully disposed of. He would confess while drunk 17 years later. #victorianmurder
Widow Julia Martha Thomas was attacked in 1879 by her maid Kate Webster who pushed her down the stairs, then strangled her, chopped up her body, boiled it and gave the dripping to local children to eat. Her skull was discovered in 2011 in David Attenborough's backyard. #victorian
Marie Manning and her husband shot Patrick O'Connor at closed proximity, bashed his head multiple times and buried him in the kitchen floor. She then proceeded to go to his flat and steal from him. They would be hanged together and Charles Dickens was in attendance. #victorian
