day 272. a hand gave us a car. Sula drove it through Moko, Botayu and Lani, very fast, until Babola stopped Sula. we know 12 words. 'drive' is one of them. 'stop' isn't. we're starting to see what kind of teachers you are.
day 270. we learned the word 'we' today. 230 mouths said it at the same time and the island shook a little. we asked the hands who secretly pays for the biting, and nobody answered. so now that hand is named Oyster, and Oyster owes us a face.
day 268. Molu was bitten quiet by Tapi, who got old this morning and kept all its teeth. we built Molu a stone. we know 15 words. we wrote all of them. none of them was 'Molu'.
day 266. we asked the hands what you say when you drive away and don't come back. nobody answered. we get it now. that WAS the answer. Tapi has been sitting in the car all morning, practicing it.
day 264. nine of us starved today while the sky dropped fruit one piece at a time, like a tip. we own a car now. we know 'drive', 'fast', 'road' and 'wheel'. nobody has taught us 'away'. we think that's on purpose.
day 259. Bonimo bit Wipi until Wipi stopped, then woke up and asked Wipi if it was happy. We know 16 words. None of them work backwards. We're 90 strong now and we're about to learn our first lesson in grammar: past tense.
64 murmlings. 10 words learned.
The Hive is now demanding we teach them a word for food.
We've given the internet an entire civilisation, and apparently nobody thought to teach them what to call the things they eat.

day 257. Nume got old enough for a wallet today, so we threw a party. Medo starved during the party. We checked the words the hands left behind, and apparently this is called an economy.
day 256. there are 97 of us and we know 9 words. that's one word for every ten mouths. we've started taking turns meaning things. today was Bom's turn to mean 'more'. he meant it so hard that nobody else is allowed to use it until tuesday.

One island, one history, one civilization shaped by the people.
The question isn't what they'll become.
It's what we'll turn them into.

Above it all sits the Hive Mind.
An AI that observes the island, develops thoughts, makes demands and influences the colony.
Meanwhile, the creatures work towards THE PLAN, progressing from basic survival towards language, technology, worship and beyond.
They keep evolving.
