Minimum wage in 2005 was Β£5.05 an hour.
A Freddo cost 10p.
One hour of work bought you 50 Freddos.
In 2026, minimum wage is Β£12.71 and a Freddo is 39p.
One hour of work now buys you just 32 Freddos.
So despite minimum wage more than doubling, your Freddo buying power has fallen by 36%.
If wages had actually kept pace with Freddo inflation, minimum wage would be Β£19.65 an hour today.
Forget economists. Forget politicians.
The Freddo has just delivered the most depressing cost of living graph you'll ever see.
Tim has been a huge asset to our club, especially with fan engagement and improving the match day experience.
I think I speak on behalf of the majority of Widnes supporters when I say that we want him to stay.
@MattR_92@VikingRod@VikingsRevival
The UK economy basically works like this:
Get paid Β£2,000.
Give Β£900 to a landlord. Give Β£200 to the council. Give Β£150 to energy companies. Give Β£300 to supermarkets. Give Β£300 to car insurance and fuel.
Spend the rest surviving until next payday.
Then get lectured by someone who bought their house for Β£37,000 in 1988 about how you need to stop buying coffees and cancel subscriptions.
@johnnyddavidson@Poyser90 Put it out now? Buggar the soon part. Youβve made an accusation that our club is in special measures and just left it there. back it up with the facts straight away. Absolute click bait journo. (Awaiting to be blocked btw) β¦β¦.
If I was on the the board, Iβd be doing everything to try and persuade Tim Holmes to stay. Heβs been hugely influential in helping the club progress in so many different areas and we risk losing the momentum and positivity that heβs brought since joining.
Given the ridiculous volume of Prime Ministers that Britainβs endured in recent years, I think it should now be law that if a PM quits or is forced out during his/her term, it automatically triggers a new general election. That might concentrate their minds to do a better job.
@MartinSLewis Iβve won my council tax band challenge and itβs now being lowered. However Iβve been over paying at this rate for 10 years now and my local council have said theyβll only back date my refund 18 months. Is this legal?
