Anyone with a charcoal BBQ has some sense of the challenge facing coal as a power source. Coal takes a while to heat up and you need to keep adding more to keep it hot.

@nomadiclucie Has anyone studied how many more spam calls there has been since we've had to write our phone number every time we enter a venue? I'm up to at least once a day.
My Joe Biden interactions:
1) made everyone wait 3 hours for a speech in Sydney
2) I left his speech during the Munich Security Conference and went to a bar instead
You can't fault Biden on is his desire to lose a crowd. I guess that's what people really want right now
I think #ESG is 'mainstream' - with 72% of global institutional investors conduct formal reviews of ESG disclosures (up from 32% two years ago).

Relying on someone else to break the Chatham House rule seems a bit like buying stolen goods.
"She was speaking under Chatham House Rules; The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age did not attend but sources who dialled in relayed some of her comments."

As a follow up to those who are thinking about gas as a "recovery" fuel... be aware the latest research shows it's pretty much as bad as coal.

@FlorenceGaub I'd ask "what are these numbers being used for" and "what would be different if these numbers didn't exist." I suspect for many countries, 'accurate' numbers wouldn't mean different policies anyway. International comparisons are more for bragging rights, rather than policy
I'd take bad data over no data any day of the week. Bad data can at least tell you something (eg. that someone feels compelled to lie about something). I think the problem you're addressing is the 'sanctity' of numbers in a spreadsheet (particularly for country-level data)
@FlorenceGaub
Data is information. Just as you can learn something from studying propaganda, you can also learn something from studying cooked/incomplete/flawed numbers. Most numbers we use are still entered by humans
