Playing music strengthens your brain more than just listening.
Young children who take music lessons show improved memory and different brain development compared to those who do not. Music education leads to larger vocabularies, advanced reading skills & enhanced memory #Sligo
4️⃣ Invite friends over for quick jam sessions or just to play and get creative
5️⃣ Use technology, fun apps with games, YouTube play alongs and pick their favourite song to learn
6️⃣ Reward efforts, no matter how small
🎹 What's your biggest obstacle in encouraging practice?
A tale as old as time. How do you encourage practice during the long summer holidays🤷? Given our weather at the moment, we are spending lots of time indoors🌦️ Here's our top tips for avoiding too much screen time and giving your instrument some love.
1️⃣ Keep the instrument in sight. Out of sight, out of mind!
2️⃣ Establish a regular practice time each day to create a habit. Keep sessions short and varied but frequent.
3️⃣ Set goals, maybe a family gathering or play date where friends perform for each other. Speaking of friends
Did you know…? 🎵 Actively listening to music keeps your brain 💪 it activates the broadest and most diverse networks of the brain including the auditory cortex, motor system and the areas responsible for emotion and memory.
