I received the management of Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development @ncwd_abuja under the leadership of the centre's Director General Hon. Asabe Bilita Bashir, on a courtesy call at the government house Dutse.
They were in Jigawa State to officially open the North West zonal office of the centre located here in Dutse. This isn’t just a milestone for Jigawa; it’s a real turning point for women and children across the region.
This centre is all about creating opportunities. Women can now gain hands-on training, pick up new skills, and even explore trades like electrical works and plumbing—fields where we know more women deserve a seat at the table. The centre will also tackle serious issues like gender-based violence, push for more women in politics, and help women thrive economically.
Jigawa is home to the very first zonal office of its kind in the country. That speaks volumes about how much we value initiatives that genuinely uplift people. And we’re not stopping here—our commitment is to make sure this centre succeeds and makes a lasting impact on lives across the Northwest.
This isn’t just about one project; it’s about reimagining what’s possible for Jigawa.
Together, we’re building something truly transformative. #EmpoweringWomen #GreaterJigawa #BuildingOurFuture
Earlier today, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with @NewGlobeEdu, a global education solution organization to transform our basic education system for the benefit of our children and their future.
The initiative tagged "JIGAWAUNITE' is designed to transform basic education as a foundation of our entire education system, just as we are improving post basic and tertiary education in the state.
This isn’t just another government project, it's a real solution to the challenges holding our children back. JigawaUnite is about flipping a script by improving literacy and numeracy, equipping our teachers with modern tools, and strengthening the bond between schools and communities.
To get things rolling, over 1,000 schools—half of Jigawa’s basic schools—are part of the first phase. The rest will be overseen by state education teams, adding a little friendly competition to keep everyone on their toes.
Education has always been at the heart of our 12-point agenda, and JigawaUnite builds on the momentum we’ve already created. From launching Jigawa COMPETE for secondary schools to introducing technical and vocational education, we’re investing in every stage of learning to make sure no child is left behind.
This is the kind of future we’re building for Jigawa. One day, I believe we’ll look back on this as the moment we decide to change the game for our children.

Earlier today, I launched the J-CARES Women’s Economic Empowerment Programme in Gwari Community, Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
We are empowering 12,600 women across Jigawa state with ₦ 50,000 each (totaling ₦630 million in assistance), this initiative is one that I hold dear to my heart.
Women form 51% of our population; they tend to experience more socio-economic challenges than men. Our administration intends to confront these challenges directly. This programme is part of our 12-Point Agenda that concentrates on youth and women empowerment in order to uplift families and communities within our state.
We are not stopping at this juncture. In conjunction with the World Bank, we will soon launch the Nigeria for Women Project which will target many more women so as to break through market barriers as well as improving their sources of livelihood.
To all the women receiving these grants I urge you use this assistance to create sustainable and prosperous lives for yourselves. Together we are building up a greater Jigawa state.
