The Vice President U.M.A led a team of both U.M.A NEC and AOGU to pay a visit to Dr Adupet Martin who is incarcerated at Luzira prison. He was in a good and joyious mood and sent his regards to the entire U.M.A fraternity. U.M.A pledged continued support until justice is granted.

Disturbing Reality: Specialists Competing for Junior Jobs Under Uganda’s Broken Health System

It’s deeply concerning that associate consultants and specialists are now competing with their juniors for medical officer positions roles far below their qualifications. This played out in the recent advertisement for just 16 positions at the Ministry of Health and Kayunga Hospital, where over 1,400 doctors applied. Some applicants held the rank of associate consultant ,you can imagine the level of desperation.

This is not merely an unemployment issue; it’s a clear reflection of a broken health system under the @NRMOnline regime one that has failed to value, plan for, or absorb its most experienced professionals.

When highly trained specialists are forced to apply for entry-level jobs just to survive, it undermines meritocracy, blocks career growth, and demoralizes the medical workforce.

This crisis highlights the serious mismanagement of human resources by @MinofHealthUG. It is unacceptable that while public hospitals across Uganda remain chronically understaffed, the government continues to underutilize and sideline highly qualified doctors.

Urgent reforms are needed to build meaningful employment pathways, retain skilled professionals, and restore dignity to Uganda’s health sector before it deteriorates even further.
