As 31st Oct brings a close to the 85th Anniversary of (as history dates) the #battleofbritain it’s ended rather spectacularly! 🤯🤯🤯

On Monday the volunteers at @MuseumKent held a memorial service for the last of the Few, Gp Cpt John ‘Paddy’ Hemingway who would have turned 106 today. Joined by his family alongside family of his No.85 Sqn comrades we were treated to a Flypast from our friends at Biggin Hill.
The proud Trustees & Volunteers at the Museum are hugely excited to announce our latest airframe acquisition - a Fieseler Fi 156C-7 Storch. Acquired from our friends at the RAF Museum she has been on display at Cosford since April 1989 & is due to arrive at Hawkinge on 26th June.
Copies are £75 - each signed by the one & only US Navy Top Gun fighter pilot, Captain Lloyd V. Abel USN (Ret’d) aka ‘Bozo’ who visited us back in 2018. To reserve your copy & help support the Museum please drop Dave an email via [email protected]
When they are gone, they are gone!
The Museum is excited to offer the opportunity to purchase a limited edition ‘Negative Ghost Rider, The Pattern is Full!’ A4 Gloss Photo of the famous moment @TomCruise character, Maverick (actually Captain Lloyd V. Abel) buzzes the Tower at Miramar Naval Air Station in Top Gun!
Brilliant visit to @MuseumKent at Hawkinge - looking absolutely glorious ahead of this weekends season opening. Do schedule a visit in this 85th Anniversary year of the #BattleOfBritain
So much to see a day really won’t be enough & the new Watch Office really is a time capsule!
On our recent visit to the @MuseumKent PHF Pilot Dave Harvey presented a Framed Edition of 'Pamięć Bohaterom' (Remember the Heroes) By Mark Postlethwaite @Posartaviation , to Dave Brocklehurst MBE as a symbol of our gratitude to all the Volunteers at the Kent Battle of Britain Museum Hawkinge.
🚨The Museum re-opens for the 2025 Season on Saturday 5th April🚨
🖼️ You can secure your Signed Print directly from our website, a fitting way to commemorate the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain 🇬🇧🇵🇱
After 5 years of searching, planning and hard graft we’ve managed what many thought wasn’t possible!
Our Heinkel He111H-16 finally gained her engines and propellor blades!
Rest in Peace dear ‘Paddy’ - our last of the ‘Few’ who we honour alongside all his comrades at the Museum.
Our flag will fly at half mast for the next seven days to mark the passing of the great man.
Huge news & an enormous thank-you from all at the Museum as we’re ecstatic to announce securing the 6 aircrew medal set! Our JustGiving campaign has seen over £29k raised to help us towards the £58k we have agreed to secure these historic items & to share the story of these men.
Had some proud days in recent years but this one is up there with the very best! Seeing F/Lt Archie McInnes AE* flying in a Spitfire, aged 99, alongside his beloved Hawker Hurricane for a last time. The last of #thefew to ever fly in a Spitfire back in 2018. Special day 🙌🏻
We’ve also uploaded a video to our YouTube channel with Museum Chairman Dave Brocklehurst MBE giving some further detail on our appeal. Link is below, please do watch and share the giving link if you can:

Enormous thank you to everyone for their generous donations so far! 🙏🏻
A way still to go, but we’re just a couple of hundred shy of hitting £10,000 of the £58k needed to preserve these Battle of Britain Aircrew medal groups 🎖️
Every pound really does help.

Huge thank you for all the support and very generous donations so far 🙏🏻 We’ve a few more weeks before the collector arrives in the UK at the end of February. If you can spare anything please help us preserve this history in this 85th Anniversary year.

Just a few months and we reach the 85th Anniversaries of the Battle of France & Battle of Britain. I’ve been so lucky to spend time with the last few of the ‘Few’ involved - just one of who is still with us aged 105! 🤯
A few things in plan to recognise & remember #LestWeForget
@cd1mages Photos with details are on the giving page - sadly character limitations prohibit a great amount of detail on here. But we can happily share in a thread if helpful
We at the Museum need your help! We’ve the rare opportunity to acquire these 6 sets of #battleofbritain aircrew medals but need to raise £51,000 in 4 weeks to prevent them being sold into a private collection or broken up & sold as separate lots.
