The show must go on.
We’re introducing a world-leading £1.57 billion rescue package to help cultural, arts and heritage institutions weather the impact of coronavirus.
Museums have too long been suckered into the neo-liberal growth and exploitation of heritage model to fund institutions primarily set up for public benefit. The pandemic has proved this to be folly
I’m back after another relaxing period at Her Majesty’s pleasure. Not a moment too soon. It looks like the museum world needs me. It needs people who actively reduce visitor numbers and socially distance their museums for their communities
Our Brexit event is now going to be a joint Halloween/Brexit one. We’re not going to go down the ‘Trick or Treaty’ cliche. But we’re creating a new monster called the ‘Fake Black Con Troll’ who will defeat the dreaded Greater Tusked Barnier by endlessly playing Deal or no Deal.
As a bit of light relief in place of the delayed Brexit exhibition I told the staff to get out for display our collection of portraits of serial killers. They refused saying hanging was too good for them.
@MusingsbyShe Ok thanks - that makes things clearer. In a protest context, decisions are sometimes made outside of a behavioural norm. However we must accept the consequences of our actions - such as the outrage evident on Twitter.
Please note our #Brexit celebration exhibition titled “May Day” due to open on 29th March has been temporarily postponed as the staff cannot agree what to put in it. Please check BBC Parliament channel for updates.
@GordonClifton2 @PolakPolly @Jan__G The lesson? Negotiate a soft Brexit. Remainers’ll be unhappy but less so than No Deal. Brexiteers will be unhappy but at least we are not politically in Europe. We will be united in misery which is a truly British solution. Otherwise we are stuck with this for generations to come

Multiple interpretations are possible both positive & negative. & how the context skews perspectives. Juxtapose bent metal, wood, cardboard & paint & the human capacity to invest meaning in the inanimate is remarkable
