Today we celebrate Edward Henry Potthast (1857–1927), one of America’s most beloved Impressionists. Known for his luminous beach scenes, Potthast transformed ordinary summer outings into vibrant studies of light, color, and atmosphere.

Arbor Day was founded in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton to encourage planting trees for fuel, shade, and building. If you can’t join in by planting a tree, enjoy this overmantel designed by Rookwood Pottery Company in 1912.
