@northumbriana@TheatreRoyalNew Bryan made an excellent selection of music on Private Passions, but boy, did he sound old! (Yes, I know he is 79, but heroes are not supposed to grow old).
Howard Kendall was so much associated with Everton it was a surprise for me to discover he played for another team - and in the FA Cup Final too. From "The Top Teams of 1964", a booklet given away with Rover & Wizard.
17 October 2015. Everton legend, Howard Kendall, died (aged 69). He played 229 league games for Everton from 1967 to 1974, and was Everton’s most successful manager, winning 2 Top division League titles, an FA Cup, 3 Charity Shields and the 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup.
Well said @mikegalsworthy As a journo with 40+ years' experience, I wonder what's going on at our "national broadcaster". If I can't trust it with things I know a bit about, how can I trust it with anything else? See my recent column re BBC & Harrods: https://t.co/2bzPN6KYVW
This is incredibly cringe.
@BBCNewsnight & @BBCNews don’t even know what news is anymore.
It has now become a public disservice. No wonder people are flocking to alternative media & social media for actual analysis of things that matter in this increasingly precarious world.
@NeilRetail Take a look at my recent interview with the CEO of LK Bennett, who has some interesting observations about rising operating costs in the UK v the difficulty of raising retail prices. https://t.co/JRpSgJhIyJ
The heart-stopping Arts and Crafts mosaic chancel of St George's, Jesmond. Opulently furnished and benefacted, this giant church - built by merchant navy shipbuilder Charles Mitchell - dominates the skyline of northern Newcastle even today. An urban treasure.
FA Cup memories prompted by a Top Teams booklet in Rover & Wizard in 1964. The following year my team Leeds United met Liverpool at Wembley & lost. Let's not mention the 1973 final v Sunderland. Odd to think PNE used to be up there @MemorabiliaMal@Detroit67Book@collectfootball
Midlands memories from 60 years ago, seen in a "Top Teams of 1964" booklet in the Rover & Wizard comic. Surely too early for @GaryLineker but maybe not for @MemorabiliaMal@Detroit67Book@collectfootball I didn't know Arsenal captain Frank McLintock (now 84) was once a Fox!
Blimey, there were a few tasty British players around in 1964, as seen in this Top Teams booklet in Rover & Wizard. I am not sure why Wales didn't feature. Maybe @MemorabiliaMal@Detroit67Book@collectfootball might know...

Lots of blokes replying "Look at your phone, mate". That's not the point.
The Victorians who built Central Station gifted #Newcastle a beautiful building. So why are we incapable of even having the clock tell the right time?
It's a civic pride thing as much as a practical one.

BBC: a storm in the USA is the first story on the 10 o clock news? What is wrong with you? What has happened to what used to be the world's best broadcaster?
