@alisonming@ChurchillCol@BritMycolSoc Hi. Yes the beeches have had a particularly high number of summer boletes this year but they have been bit later than usual. IDing them is not my forte but I have seen 6 or 7 species there. I'm only keeping my own records for now but intend to record in the near future. You?
@alisonming@ChurchillCol I will be doing my usual forays around the same area this weekend but as a mere member of the public l am sadly not officially allowed into Churchill at the moment. I would be interested to know what you find.
@gnomeicide Agree about the P. Squarrosa. Glad you found a new morel cohort. Dont think I've ever found any before March but who can tell. If you dont look you dont find. Good luck.
@floodenheim I've found several sites in central Cambridge with A. Strobiliformis over the last 5 years but can't say the smell of ham has been strong with any of them.
@gnomeicide No it's not a parasite. Sure. Go see what you think. It can be found near the lake at the back of the Cavendish labs. Need to look at at the back of the willows as can't be seen from the path.
It's back again. 3rd time in 5 years. Anyone know what this bright white & pinkish laetiporus-style fungus on a Cambridge willow might be? Feels and smells like #chickenofthewoods but very white, with lots of fingers.
@fungitobewith Thanks Andy. I had always assumed that too but it occurred to me this year how lacking in shelf-like structures and abundant in fingers it is. Could be due to the ivy it is trying to grow up through I guess.
