I was honoured to participate in the High-level Luncheon on “Charting a Global Security and Growth Agenda” during the @wef #SpecialMeeting24.

I had the opportunity to engage with leaders from different sectors, including heads of state and government, and offered a #Maldives perspective on the contemporary security landscape. Leaders discussed pressing security concerns in the Middle East among other issues.

As we navigate through the unprecedented security challenges faced by world today, it is crucial that we unite as one and explore innovative solutions to address these common challenges.

The #Maldives is once again disheartened by the decision of the #UNSC to deny the application of #Palestine to become a full member of the #UN.

We stand with more than 140 UN Member States to support the Palestinian cause and their application to become a full member of the UN. It is imperative that the UN upholds its principles of justice and equality for all.

We reaffirm our call for a just and lasting solution based on the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 border.

#Maldives 🇲🇻 and New Zealand 🇳🇿 co-chaired the Preparatory Committee of #SIDS4 where the Outcome Document of the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States was adopted by all Member States — a key milestone before the #SIDS4 Conference next month. The Outcome Document is an important Programme of Action for #SIDS which outlines a path towards achieving resilient prosperity over the next 10 years.

I congratulate Ambassador @AlinyMohamed for his excellent work as Co-Chair of the Preparatory Committee, supported by the very able team at @MVPMNY.

Under the leadership and guidance of President Dr @MMuizzu, Maldives will continue to be a leader amongst #SIDS, championing issues that are important for our sustainable development.

#Maldives welcomes the adoption of the UN Security Council Resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire for the holy month of Ramadan.

We deem the adoption of this resolution as a crucial step towards ensuring a lasting and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and ultimately, towards establishing peace and stability in the region.

The resolution must now be fully implemented and the people of Palestine must receive the humanitarian aid they so urgently need.
